Would he recognize the church as “His”?

What about all the added things since he has been gone; are those inspired by him?

Blessings.

Since the Church is His Body and His Bride, He would certainly recognize it; He has been in and with His Church since the beginning, so He would - and does! - know His own. All that has been developed from His original Self-Revelation is simply that, a development like that of the seed that produces the oak tree. Certainly some things within the life of the Church over the centuries are/were disciplines and can be changed, but the core doctrines regarding faith and morals have not changed, nor can they.

So the church is everything he wanted and nothing more added or left out over time?

Are you including lights and heat and plumbing? Some things have improved over time

OP sounds like a Fundamentalist troll.
I don’t think so, Paul. In another thread she was worried about her sister who is about to leave the Church. I think Alessandra is bringing questions to us that her sister has raised.

All that is good and holy is of Christ Who sustains His Church by His grace as a pure a spotless Bride; the sins and failures of particular Catholics through the ages do not change His presence with and in His Bride - who is His ONLY Bride.

I have thick skin so I will let that comment slide.

I will tell you to be careful about labeling and calling others names as that is not very Christian of you, and it may chase potential converts or shy or timid people away!

I thought this forum was to ask questions? If we all knew everything about the church we would not need this forum!

I am trying to get things straight about what I am told and what is fact that is why I posted these questions.

I’m very, very sorry. I was obviously totally off-base there. I have seen exactly this tactic and exactly this question posed by fundamentalists before.

Please accept my apology!

No Problem; All is forgiven!😉
Oh, thanks. I felt terrible. (Really it was uncalled-for; if I wasn’t sure (I wasn’t) I should have not posted.)

I hope you get your queries answered. The Catholic Church is the true Church, the Church Christ founded, and whilst its members and practices may not be perfect (well, obviously none of us are), the Church itself is holy and is perfect in a sense.

If we apply the statement, “You will know they are Christians by their love.” How many of us would be known?

A lot of Christians are probably not loving enough their fellow man.

That, of course, is the 2nd Great Commandment - the first being to love God. (Not that they’re not related, but they’re not the same thing.)

Many critics of Christianity look at statements of Christ such as “I came to bring not peace, but a sword” and his name calling (“Fools! Snakes!”) and claim that He was not loving.

Just goes to show one that Christianity can’t really be reduced to an emotional pet-phrase.

Now we’ve gone and taken the thread off-topic.
