If climate change is real, is it a sin to do nothing about it?

Why is it that historians label as the “Opptimum” the years around 1000 when Greenland was green and the vikings traveled the seas. When the climatologists support the idea that the earth was at least 2 degrees warmer. What was the effect of the planet being 2 degrees warmer- flourishing of the race of man- whether or not it was Christ based or not.
I am a physicist by training and a surgeon for my career so I am very much get to the point. I have requested the records of the global warming people but they won’t give them- they don’t want anyone with any expertise to evaluate their data. Realize that they deleted at least 10 to 15 Siberian temperature stations to get their “politcal” results.

What is the atmospheric composition and surface temperature on Venus?
Maybe Mr Hansen should have kept studying Venus…because he sure has “politicized” the Earths Climate Science.
:rotfl::rotfl:

I thought as much 🙂

Don’t worry IPCC can’t either: its 2007 AR4 gospel gives an exceptionally wide range of

answers, from 25 to 225 parts per million by volume per Kelvin – in short, they don’t know.

Get the science right first: Before the Preaching - would probably be the most logical approach? 🤷😃

Such interpretation can only be advanced by someone who failed a basic course in statistics.

ETA: Besides, all your values are positive, which means that you have just acknowledged that CO2 indeed is a temperature driver. Thanks for playing.

ETA2: A learned AGW expert like you should know that climate sensitivity is not given as ppm/K. There are two reasons for this: (1) the relationship is not linear and (2) even if it was, it should be K/ppm, not ppm/K. There is indeed something in climate science which is expressed in in ppm/K, but it is not what you think 🙂

Except that global warming is a reality, and so doing nothing about it when something could easily be done is in faact quite wrong.
This assumes both the that you are right (not the topic of this thread) and that global warming is a bad thing.
And that the Catholic Church has no official position on it does not excuse anyone’s behavior:
It most assuredly does. The Catholic Church is the bulwark of moral doctrine. We can’t simply make up our own sins and impose them on others.
That is the topic of this thread, for all you folks who seem to keep forgetting it, choosing instead to debate the premise, not the question.

The Holy Father HAS talked about Natural Disasters…Good Stewardship…Conservation…
As well as global warming, and our need to mitigate it. In fact, JPII also spoke about that as early as 1990. So no excuse whatsoever this late in the game not to do so.

((And don’t give me that ridiculous spiel that they are only referring to natural climate change…bec then they’d also have to speak about the dangers of earthquakes, or how it gets dark at night due to the sun setting, etc. They are into addressing moral issues and the moral side of issues. Why would they waste time speaking about some “natural” issue?))

And also that killing people willy nilly is evil. That’s even in the 10 Commandments.
And we have already discussed this. You have not shown how, if or when AGW will kill people or what we can do that will actually stop the “killing” if it is going to happen. Since the western governments have been trying to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere for 20 years or so, but have failed in either lowering it or slowing its growth, (though temps haven’t risen)

In fact we cannot say that some warming will not be good for people. We can however say that the government’s attempts to control climate change has had drastic and sometimes fatal effect on people. From loosing jobs or having to pay more for products in more prosperous countries, to people literally dying in 3rd world countries from food prices skyrocketing or being made refugees or dying from military action to prevent them from farming the land to feed themselves.

This isn’t the best article/link, but these are real people who have died, not your hypothetical people.
