If everyone in the world could know just one scripture passage (& practice it), which one should it be?

***i think it should be St. Matthew 25:31, which tells us that whatever we do/don’t do for the least of Christ’s brethren, we do/don’t do for Him…

Jesus is God so whatever we do to Christians, we do to God…

no wonder so few people make it to Heaven (St Mt 7:20, etc…)…***
 
Mark 12:

28One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

29“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.e 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’f 31The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’g There is no commandment greater than these.”
 
I believe that this scripture verse is** the most important for all people to set the ultimate focus for their life**…to know …why the were made…what is the ultimate purpose of their life

But** to practice**…this scripture verse covers it all for me, because it defines and legitimizes the Teaching Church (One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic): (take your pick on which event you prefer)

Lastly…these two quotes (John 3:16 and** Matthew 10:40 or Luke 10:16**)…culminate in*** The Great Commission***…Jesus was all about the **Father’s Mission and the Father’s Will…I mean he was clearly…“ferocious” in focus, in intent and in will-power …to get it done…“it is finished”…and likewise…so should we…:

In this scripture the ADVOCATE actually declared us not guilty because of our acceptance of His faithfullness.This then mean that even if we experience persecussion,we will not be sentenced guilty by the enemy.The Judge has declared us free so we should move with faith with Christ Jesus, not fear of the the the enemy.

God will repay everyone according to his works: eternal life to those who seek glory, honor, and immortality through perseverance in good works, but wrath and fury to those who selfishly disobey the truth and obey wickedness.
Yes, affliction and distress will come upon every human being who does evil, Jew first and then Greek. But there will be glory, honor, and peace for everyone who does good, Jew first and then Greek. There is no partiality with God.

Micah 6:8 has always struck me as being foundation for anyone aspiring to the Beatific Vision.

*I will shew thee, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requireth of thee: Verily, to do judgment, and to love mercy, and to walk solicitous with thy God. *

Mt 25:31 is better because it specifies what has to be done to be “saved”…

this is a good one…

although some don’t realize that the mouth of God includes what the Church says…

and some don’t even accpet that the Bible is the word of God… :eek:
 
if everyone in the world loved others as themselves… which is another one that … wel, it’s a tie w/ Mt 25:31…

but anyhow… if everyone did that, they would fulfill the law of God…

only problem is, people don’t know much about love… they think its just a feeling of affection or whatever… 😦

Would you please quit saying that? How would you feel if someone said it
about you?

This is the most important one to live by:

John 15:12 – This is My commandment: love one another as I have loved you.

So now, how has Jesus loved you? Is that how you are now loving others?

One of the saints said that we love God only as much as we love the one we
like the least.

We have so far to go on this walk of Love. There is no place for a statement like
“no wonder so few make it to heaven”. We Have to keep our eyes on our own
steps, it is an emergency.

If you don’t think someone else is loving you well enough, perhaps they don’t
feel loved by Jesus? Who’s fault is that? We are His hands and feet.

Jesus has actually never spoken to me like that, and I would be sad if He did.

If I was you, all He would say to me is:

Distracted, thank you for your hard work in sharing the daily readings with others.
You highlights and comments really make people think, and think about Me. Keep up the good work, you’re My girl! And He would just ignore anything I said that wasn’t
quite right.

Isn’t it funny how sometimes we give other people advice and it’s really just God giving
US that advice?

For Jews, it’s one of the most quoted parts of the Tanakh. It rather neatly sums up how we ought to be living our lives. The 1985 JPS translation is:

He has told you, O man, what is good,
And what the Lord requires of you:
Only to do justice
And to love goodness,
And to walk modestly with your God,
Then will your name achieve wisdom.
 
How about Proverbs 3:5
– Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding.
In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your steps.
 
To practice Christ’s ONLY commandment:

Love others as I have loved you.
 
The one about loving God with with your whole being and strength and loving your neighbour as yourself (which in turn proves the first part).
