If Father John Corapi were suddenly appointed to be your parish's pastor

Does Fr. Corapi truly have bodyguards? How can we verify this.

LOL…I don’t think so. I saw him mention in a sermon that he usually travels alone or with a secretary. I take that back I’ll bet he has a great gaurdien angel. I do know he has a gun. He also mentioned in a sermon that he had an intruder where he lives with a rifle looking for him and he shot in the air to scare him off.

With all due respect, St. Paul wasn’t exactly all hearts and flowers. He said some pretty harsh things to the communities to whom he preached. He even got a little theatrical with the Greeks when he was in Athens and was no shrinking violet when going into the synagogues to preach, as evidenced in the readings we have heard this week during daily Mass.

We have a great pastor who is a friend and knows the area and its special challenges very well, so that would be sad. However, Fr.Corapi is brilliant and I’d love it if he were my pastor.

Maybe he could come as a visiting priest or preach a mission. There are those for whom a good whiff of brimstone would be very theraputic.

He never used to. He’s a fairly small guy and I stepped into his path so that he would stop and bless a wedding ring at a very crowded Marian conference. He was very gracious about it and there were no bodyguards anywhere near him…

Has anyone ever heard of Father William Casey. He was on EWTN around lent doing a special. He’s as tough as Fr Corapi. He was real good. I wish they had him on more often

He would have a VERY good deacon to keep him pointed in the right direction as he attempted to celebrate the Melkite recension of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom.

He would also have to get used to being addressed as Fr. John.

Does he not answer to Fr. John now?

I think 1/3 of the people would leave for another parish, 1/3 would just go along, 1/3 would be dancing in the aisles, which he would promptly stop.

:yup: same here - with the addition that we’d get people from parishes far away who think he’s great, too.

I attend an EF only, and I think Fr. Corapi has an issue with prayer in Latin, so I doubt that could happen at least at the Mass I attend. Besides, my priest is absolutely awesome when it comes to sermons.

Having said all that, I really like Fr. Corapi and have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for him. He stands up and tells the truth.

BTW, the person who made the statement about him being enlisted and Fr. Casey being an officer, what was that about? I was enlisted and my husband has been both. (NOT looking for a fight, just good natured ribbing here )

When somene starts off with “with all due respect” it usually is followed by something negative and you did not fail to disappoint.

Did I ask for “hearts and flowers” or criticize his content? No. I said that I don’t care for his voice or delivery. If you like his style, then I’m happy for you. Enjoy. God made each of us different for a reason. I prefer someone whose voice does not get on my nerves nor require me to turn down the volume on my TV. In person, sticking my fingers into my ears would be rude, so I would not subject myself to Fr. C in person. Thankfully, I don’t have to like his sermons nor listen to them to get into Heaven. I would rather read a good book on a subject, so I don’t listen to many TV programs for Catholic educational purposes.

If this is only the “love on Fr. C” thread and all others will be jumped then the title should have clearly stated it. I’m not feeling much like a lemming today.

I would be thrilled! This priest is a very holy man and I just love the way he preaches. He has an amazing story that led to his ordination. I am a deacon and had the honor of assisting him in a Mass that he presided during a retreat in Indiana a few years ago and I have to say that while serving as a deacon at that Mass, I just knew that I was in the presence of holiness. Would I be happy if Fr. Corapi would be appointed as my paster? I would be so happy that my face would hurt from smiling too much!

what would change? not much. our current pastor is probably the best preacher in the diocese and pulls no punches but his delivery is more balanced and he is not as abrasive as Fr. Corapi. Many people come here for the preaching. Since we can count on a reverent liturgy conducted according to the rubrics no change is needed there either. No way however is this parish going to pay for Fr. Corapi’s bodyguards and entourage.

My thoughts exactly. Fr. Corapi is a charismatic speaker, but abrasive. I have never seen him celebrate Mass, but we have beautiful reverant liturgies so I imagine no difference there. I would see the biggest difference between the humility of our parish priests and the need for Fr. Corapi’s entourage.

:clapping::curtsey::heaven::WOW/ . . . that would be something . . . I learn sooooo much when I get to listen to him speak/teach! I thnk that his type of personality would be really grt! Some pastors could use a little of his knowledge and forthrightness. I believe he would be wonderful at Mass. He loves the Lord Jesus Christ and His Holy Mother very much so I am sure this would be apparent in Father Corapi offereing the Mass.

Actually, to me he looks and sounds like Patrick Stewart (from Star Trek: The Next Generation). I have seen him on EWTN, and while he does sound a bit gruff, as somebody else said he tells it like it is.

If Fr Corapi were to be appointed to my Parish I would jump up and down for joy ! When I first started watching EWTN and Fr John Corapi I was amazed when I heard what he had to say and how he said it. He gives the Word of Jesus just as they were meant to be. He explains everything even his own big words, in language we can all understand!
His heart and soul is on fire for love of Jesus and Our Blessed Lady, and you cannot help but be touched, by how much he wants to save souls and so he pulls no punches. By listening every week to Fr. Corapi I began to really search my own soul and attitudes and be inspired to do something about it!
God Bless him and all Priests now that the Year of the Priests is starting on Friday. Friday is the 150th Anniversary of the death of St. John Vianney who is the Patron Saint of Priests, and is life story is wonderful.
Our Priests are wonderful in spite of all that is said so it would be wonderful to say a Hail Mary every day for a year for them. Our Lady loves them very much and also walked with the Apostles and the Holy Spirit inspired Her to Pray for them and the first Christains.

IF Father Corapi was suddenly appointed to our parish? = the old people who don;t believe in change would be in for a big surprise. And I think it would be awesome I would never want to leave. He’s a wonderful teacher and knows his stuff I have listen to him on ewtn.
I would really like to see a Priest like him in our Parish the Children and parents would come back to masses. Maybe then our Church would be full again, But Father Corapi would have alot of Challenges on his hands cause were merging and there’s another Church that has Merged with us in name sake only and whatever priest we get for that weekend ( because we dont have one at the moment) goes between our Church and one about 15 miles away on saturday nites.

I feel this would Help our Church grow in Jesus’s love and our love for Christ, It would also bring the right way to do masses back in the church , and I bet the people won’t try to run it like there trying to do now. And I pray that the people’s power would leave them also, So maybe we could keep a Priest.

We need MORE priests and also Bishops with the faith and charisma like Ft John Corapi , the church for so long has had very few of them , and has suffered due to that fact. **I know I would try to get to mass daily if he was in my area as a parish priest. ** We need to pray that God will send us more priests like him to revitalize the church and wake up its members .

Christ himself is present at Mass. If you can get to daily Mass, I would highly encourage you no matter who the priest was.
