Since God is omnipotent and omnipresent, He could do many things at once with ease. So why does God needs angels?

Angels are created by God just as He created us, except that He chose to create them without physical bodies.
The Angels went through their testing time just as we are. Some of them chose God, (two-thirds according to the bible, lad by the Archangel Michael,
one third lost their beauty love and goodness because they rebelled against God just as some human beings do, and by losing, rejecting the love and goodness of God they made themselves evil, devils.

God didn’t make Angels or us because He needed us, but out of love, and wishing to share His love and goofiness with His creatures.
The Angels do serve God because of love, and help us, just as we help each other through prayers and kind deeds.

That’s the beauty of it. He needs nothing. He created the angels and us and everything else out of sheer generosity, and then he honors - yes, honors - his creation by inviting it, in particular us and the angels, to participate in his acts of creation and salvation. Like a good father, he shares all that he has which is good (which is everything, since all that he has is good).

There is a lot of theological thinking which says that God’s creation would be unbalanced, incomplete without angels.

Because powerful people have other people doing things for them. Queen Elizabeth of the UK does not do her own grocery shopping, and the Pope does not drive himself.

Furthermore, the purpose of governing the universe is to bring it to goodness. But while it is good to be good, it is better to be both good and the cause of goodness in other things. So God makes some things in the universe both good and the cause of goodness in others, like a teacher who has students of his own but who also trains new teachers. So God has angels and men and other things cooperating with his governance, because on the whole such an arrangement promotes goodness more effectively. (Cf. Aquinas, Summa Theologiae I.103.6, newadvent.org/summa/1103.htm#article6)

Your question presupposes that God needs angels.

This is a logical fallacy known as a loaded question.

For example:
Code:
Argument: Have you stopped beating your wife?
Problem: Either a yes or no answer is an admission of guilt to beating your wife.
Applied to your question:
Code:
Argument: Why does God need angels?
Problem: Any explanation admits that an all powerful God needs something else, which is impossible

Is it not only someone that is omnipotent who could even create angels?

We humans often go out and work and do things because we need something. We need food so we go to the grocery store. We need money so we go to work. We need love so we find someone to love. Humans are often motivated by need.

But our need is often related to the fact of our human condition. Our bodies need food, so we have to go out and get it. God is a pure unchanging spirit and therefore is not subject to the human condition of need in the way that we are.

God, is not motivated by need but by his very nature. God is love. Therefore he loves. The angels and us humans were created as an object of love but also as an object of creative expression, just like an artist would paint a great painting. Does an artist need to paint? His art is an expression of himself in some way. Similarly, we can see an expression of God in His creation. He is the Potter. We are the clay. We were created in His image and likeness.

We also often do things because we love them. For instance I don’t windsurf for my health, even though it is healthy. I do it because it is fun. We can enjoy life, because it is not simply about meeting basic needs, but because we can take pleasure in even the simplest of things. The person who is truly awake and alive sees great wonder in even the tiniest of things.

God Bless
