I remember learning in the Baltimore Catechism that God is pure spirit. Jesus is God, but how is Jesus pure spirit if he is also man, which means that he has a body?
Up to the point of the Incarnation, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit were pure spirit. After the Incarnation, the Father and the Holy Spirit remain pure spirit, but the Son assumed to himself a human nature and became the man Christ Jesus (while remaining eternally God the Son).
