If God is three Persons, why do we say Him and not They?

Dear Sean,
I Agree, but in a simpler way:
C.S. Lewis: That Hideous Strength:
“The male you could have escaped, for it exists only on the biological level. But the masculine none of us can escape. What is above and beyond all things is so masculine that we are all feminine in relation to it. You had better agree with your adversary quickly.’”

I have met the Director, Personally. ~HER~ name is Yahweh.

Sean
I cannot believe you’ve said this about your god! Definitely not mine.

His name is Jesus and I think you should be ashamed of yourself - Jesuit - the Order is better than the face your presenting. 😦

I hope you soon get some sense in your head.

glendab =(

Sometimes I just sit here and repeat the ~Sign of the Cross~ over and over and over…

I pray:

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

And again:

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord,

Amen.

This is a very complicated subject for a lot of people Outside the church, who believe all kinds of silly things about “Christians” let alone Catholics, so I’ve learned a lot about how to talk to some of them, at levels that they can see things clearer…

I don’t “toy around” with philosophy and religion. I take these things very seriously, Always keeping Foremost in my mind, the God is Always with me, or watching me, in case I do screw something up.

But sometimes we learn best through our mistakes, and I know who to listen to, for correcting mine.

If this is upsetting to you, then perhaps it’s not a conversation we should be having together =)

Peace be with you <3

Ouch.

I think you said you were from another Christian denomination at one point? I’ve noticed a lot of smaller churches, especially, focus Only on Jesus, and completely miss out everything else. Like those little new testament only bibles… and avoid the King James version please (bleh).

Do you have a Catechism? I find it’s a lot more informational than most church groups.
You can find it online here:
vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/_INDEX.HTM

I was just reminded from another thread here of CAF about the Apostle’s Creed, so I’ll stick to that (The Nicene Creed is something you should check out too, though)
vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/credo.htm

I believe in God,
the Father almighty, (Note: Alpha)
creator of heaven and earth. (Note: Yahweh)

I believe in Jesus Christ, (Note: Yeshua, meaning “Yahweh saves”)
(Christ means “The Anointed One”)
his only Son, our Lord. (The third part of the Trinity)

(Stop quibbling about the word “part” here, please. I know Whom I’m talking about)

He was conceived by the (Jesus was a Male Person)
power of the Holy Spirit (Note: Omega)
and born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, (Note: Politician)
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.

On the third day he rose again.

He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge
the living and the dead

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.

Amen. (Note: For Certain)

Kyrie Eleison (Note: Lord have Mercy) =)

Hello Sean.
If thinking out side the box is your “job,” then you should be getting paid plenty.
And no, I actually don’t get “paid” that way. All I have, Belongs to God. I share everything, with everyone I feel needs it, in the moments I see that… and I store up the things and people I treasure, in Heaven (Note: commit them to God’s will, whether they like it or not, with my Prayer Intentions =)

Pax Vobis

Sean

P.S. I think I’m done here for awhile. I don’t much care for fighting.

I’ve been pondering the Trinity, which is leaving me more confused than clarified, though I do realize we cannot fully understand this.

Also, another Trinity-related question: If Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, why is the Holy Spirit not considered the Father?
Hmm… Good question. I may start using “they” when referring to God in the future, especially when referring to God’s actions rather than his nature.

One can speak of the Trinity as Father, Son, and Spirit, always being sure to keep in mind that there is ONE God, not three.
