If God knows you’re going to hell, can you change that?

You are saying that God cannot change the end of our lives? Sorry … we disagree … God can do anything.

At the moment of time we see as “the end of our lives,” God has done everything He will. If you’re imagining something like this:

Billy is born. God sees his life and that he chooses hell. God gives grace until the future moment changes to Billy going to heaven.

then that’s not what I’m talking about. The future already exists, has “already happened” in the mind of God. He also doesn’t see the future then do what’s necessary to get there. He sees the end result of His actions and ours at the same moment as we are created. It’s a logical impossibly to say that God could change a future that exists because of His actions. God cannot do the logically impossible, like make a square circle, a married bachelor, or change a future He made.

Again, we disagree, God can do anything. So I guess this is where we end our discussion … and it has been nice talking to you. Have a good evening.

God can do anything except what’s logically impossible. Unless, of course, you think God can make square circles, in which case I don’t know how to respond to that.

Now we need to end this discussion … because you are questioning what God can do … and I won’t go there … God can do anything … even change time.

We do. You’re saying God can do things which are logically impossible. If you believe God can do those things, we can never agree.

You’re confusing physical impossibility, things unable to be done because of universal law, with logical impossibility, things which cannot be done by their very definition. If you think God can do both, then you believe God can create a square circle.

You two seem to want to argue … I’ll just agree to disagree.

We want to show you that what you’re proposing is wrong, and dangerous. Without the distinction of logical impossibility and physical impossibility, things like the so-called “omnipotence paradox” are serious issues with God, and can cause doubt or a crisis of faith.
