If I am saved by faith alone, why do I need to read the Bible?

No one here is saying that 2 Tim 3:15 isn’t true, WHC. In fact, we heartily give it a 👍

We are in disagreement with your original proposal which was:

Do you rescind the above?
I’ve cited an OT verse that answers your question. What’s to rescind?

Fair enough.

Now, as you continue in your apologia, you will continue to only use the OT, which is your paradigm. 🤷

In fact, I suggest you not pray the Our Father, for the concept of God as our father is not found in the OT. It was revealed by Jesus in the NT.

(NB: I am only being coy here. 😛 * Of course* I would never seriously propose that a Christian not pray the perfect prayer taught to us by Our Lord. I am only offering the logical conclusion of WHC’s paradigm.)

But that is not all I offered. Why do you ignore the rest of the statement? This isn’t a court room where you can cut someone off at yes or no.

Peace! 👍
Neither is this a place which requires me to answer each and every assertion, quip, or…anything; right?

Please answer with a yes or no.

Do the demons believe?
Gen 15:1-6 answers your question, and you wrongly stated what Christ said in Mt 7:21 and 22.

Have you never been taught you shouldn’t do that? Or is that type of behavior acceptable in your Church?

They need to believe (Gen 15:1-6).
Incidentally, let’s see what Catholics profess we need for salvation.

We proclaim that we are saved:

By believing in Christ (Jn 3:16; Acts 16:31)

By repentance (Acts 2:38; 2 Pet 3:9)

By baptism (Jn 3:5; 1 Pet 3:21; Titus 3:5)

By eating his flesh and drinking his blood (Jn 6)

By the work of the Spirit (Jn 3:5; 2 Cor 3:6)

By declaring with our mouths (Lk 12:8; Rom 10:9)

By coming to a knowledge of the truth (1 Tim 2:4; Heb 10:26)

By works (Rom 2:6-7; James 2:24)

By grace (Acts 15:11; Eph 2:8)

By his blood (Rom 5:9; Heb 9:22)

By his righteousness (Rom 5:17; 2 Pet 1:1)

By his Cross (Eph 2:16; Col 2:14)

(Note the *New *Testament citations. :))

It all depends on your purpose for being here. Do you just want to argue or do you want to arrive at truth? You take what you need out of context in order to satisfy yourself and avoid the portion for which you have no answer. Obviously, you can do what you wish, it just doesn’t gain you much credibility.

Gen 15:1-6 answers your question,
How so?

Belief is not enough, as the NT clearly proclaims. For do not even the demons believe, and shudder?

I suppose if one is limited to only the OT, then he might not get the fullness of revelation as revealed by James.

That’s implicitly the problem with your paradigm.

OK.

Assumes, without proof, that I haven’t arrived at the truth.

Assumes, without proof, that the reason for not answering each and every assertion, statement, or quip that you make is because I have no answer.

That’s what happens when you don’t listen. 🙂
No, its what happens when one states the same thing over and over and realizes that the one receiving the information has their fingers stuck in their ears. You might as well bang your head against a wall. When you have something substantive I’d be happy to converse with you.

Don’t go away mad. 🙂

Um, WCH? I don’t believe I asked a question in this post. Note the lack of this symbol below: [SIGN1]?[/SIGN1]
