I don’t understand your statement. Are you saying that you don’t believe in Satan?

However, it is Catholic doctrine (or is it dogma…what’s the difference? heh) that Satan exists, and a faithful Catholic is bound to believe in that dreadful reality.
 
If there is no hell, then what’s the point of this whole exercise of life? If everyone just goes to heaven anyway, then life itself serves no purpose. And if there is a hell, then there is a way to get there. And if one does not believe in Satan in a literal sense (which we should, obviously), there still must be the concern of sin, whatever its cause.

I don’t know how you could make an argument that was any clearer than that cowgirl, the best thing may be to just let her watch you live your faith, she may decide she is missing something. 😉
 
I have found it very interesting that in discussions of witchcraft and new age techniques, those that are most vocal in opposition to them are persons who have been converted from those practices. They understand how easy it is to be drawn into these practices that draw us away from God.

I recently move in with my moms sister who happens to be Catholic, but not very knowledgable, and tends to be more liberal. We recently had a debate, about witch craft/harry potter. She said that since she doesnt believe in witch craft, or satan, it doesnt exist, and neither can have any affect on her.
I told her that many people dont believe in God, but that doesnt mean that He doesnt exist, or limit His power. She wasnt convinced, and I was wondering if anyone had any other advice, or helpful hints. thank you!!

Our current Pope has said anyone who does not believe in the devil, does not believe in the Gospel.
 
The anti-goecentricism example provided above is not a very strong one unless you can refute the claims of modern geocentricists. A good place to start if you want to try this is catholicintl.com. God bless.

I recently asked myself the same question, does God exist? does God love me? does God want me to be here? Well, I really dont have a comment for you…but I want to tell you I do know God exists because a friend recently told me that you wouldnt be here…if God made a mistake…b/c God never makes a mistake in his creation. I want to tell you that…God does exist and I hope your family continues to see that.

What you or I beleive doesn’t change the Truth. Lilyofthevalley pointed it out in his/her example. This form of relativism opens up the door for some real bizzare thinking doesn’t it? In fact its why many people imbrace it, it doesn’t hold us to any standard but our own.
