If i forgive you, must i make amends with you

I think my tank is running low and I will have to rise to the surface.

Given my nature, and also my life situation, I am unable to follow all of the trails that you seem to be able to.

I wish to be forgiven. Therefore I forgive.
That is what Christ taught us in the Lords Prayer and also when He said how we treat others is how we will be treated by him at judgement.

I forgive because to not forgive means harboring wrong attitudes. That is, If I do not love and forgive, then I will resent and hate. These are emotions contrary to God. They are contrary to the relationship I wish to have with God and with my fellow man.

If I don’t “know” all of the permutations of the synonyms, then I must simply rely on the light of the world to guide me. If I make a mistake, then I must repent and ask forgivenss of God and of my neighbor.
If I do “know” all of the permutations of the synonyms, it is still no guarentee that I will be able to properly apply them in a given situation since emotions can, and often do, trump our most carefully cultivated “objectivity”.

In any case, it has been an interesting discussion and I thank you for it. It has been helpful to us both I believe.
