…what language would He celebrate it in? I will not be posting, just reading reactions. I’m not sure what the answer is on this one anyway.

I voted Latin, but it would really depend.

Jesus likely spoke Aramaic, Greek, and Latin.

He would have spoke Aramaic only to people from Galilee, so not Aramaic.

On second thought, I probably should have voted English. But I voted Latin just because I like the idea of Jesus coming around and saying “Why did you people change the tradition?”

Actually, maybe Greek. I don’t know. He would have spoke Greek when talking to people like Pontius Pilate and other Romans. And a little Latin too though.

This question is too complicated for me.

All of them.
Just like the Apostles did in Acts: 👍

"And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem. At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language. They were astounded, and in amazement they asked, “Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans? Then how does each of us hear them in his own native language? We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene, as well as travelers from Rome, both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of God.” (Acts 2:4-11)

Yea, that’s what I meant, but I put down Aramaic on the poll. Probably, that was his first language.

Jesus will celebrate Mass in English as I would hear it, however my brothers and sisters around the world will hear it on their language that they can understand because of the “Holy Spirit”. So all of the above and more,

. . . . . I’m sure there would be a number of people there, pen in hand, watching for “liturgical abuses” so they could report them here.

I don’t know. What language do they speak in Heaven?
Swedish. At least, that’s what I was taught growing up.

My personal theory is that “math” is the language of heaven, as math seems to be the unifying “language” of the universe.

What do you mean “if”? He offers Himself on the altar thousands of times a day in this country.

Don’t even say things like that…

Ain’t that the truth!!! That is so true and yet so funny!!

This thought is beautiful and hilarious at the same time. Priceless. 👍

Bingo! You get the catechism prize! 👍

(Forgive me if this double-posts. I tried to post it once already, can’t see it, and want to be the first to congratulate you.)

Please allow me to comment that this is one of the most fun and friendly threads that I have ever seen in the Traditional Catholicism Section of this Board! Thanks for starting it. :o I hope it stays sweet.
