What would Jesus like about your church?

What would Jesus dislike about your church?

Please don’t give reasons why someone elses ideas are wrong to you. Please, only give your ideas about your own church.

I think Jesus would feel comfortable and happy in my church with all the pictures and figure of some of His best friends and family all around Him (like a home).

I think that Jesus would be sad about the way some people dress.

Jesus might like to see that He is the center of the Church (His body and all).

He might not like the lack of defense and true catechesis for His body the Church.

IF He came? He LIVES there! 😃

So He likes, I believe, that we come to see Him there.

As for disliking. . .I don’t want to put words in Jesus’ mouth. I don’t believe Jesus would ‘dislike’ the building; I don’t believe He would ‘dislike’ the liturgy; I don’t believe He would ‘dislike’ the people, etc.

If though by “your church” you mean “the congregation right now on January 29, 2007 who worship at St. X’s regularly”–again, I do not think He would “dislike” the congregation or the people.

He MIGHT be sorrowful at the state of an individual’s soul–I can only speak for myself of course!–because of the individual’s sins–but ‘dislike’ is really not the right word IMO.

So all I can do is try to love Him and do what He wants, repent, and believe, and do His will. . .

Because that is love. And God is love.

Along the lines of what Tantum ergo said, I believe that Jesus would be joyful that the people receive the Sacraments at my Church. They receive Him in the Eucharist, they receive His forgiveness through the Sacrament of Penance, and He welcomes them into His Body in the Sacrament of Baptism and rejoices in their Confirmations. I believe He would rejoice at people gathering as a community to glorify God and to worship in Spirit and truth.

I believe He would be sorrowful at the souls who choose to receive Him in a state of mortal sin, and those who receive Him nonchalantly. Likewise, I believe He would be sorrowful at those who sin but do not seek His forgiveness.

Jesus is physically in my church every day as the Body and Blood of Christ. He is there with His Holy Mother and all the angels and saints present. Just like He is at every other Catholic church in the world.

Umm… guys, I think this was posted in the “non-Catholic” forum for a reason;)

I could definately see that.

I could see Jesus walking up to The Altar.

I could see Him saying Mass in The Priestly Vestments.

I could see Him appreciating the caretakers of His Father’s House.

:highprayer:

I don’t really think that Jesus would be concerned about the building. I think He would be more concerned about the people in the building.

I think He would be happy to find many people who truly love God and want to follow Him. I think He would be disappointed that there are people there who are there simply out of habit and not necessarily conviction.

Maybe I should have said Church service rather than church.

I was thinking of things like the way we worship and the building. I think Jesus would like the readings from the Old and New testament that are read in my church and I think He would like the way we kneel before Him to pray.

Do you think Jesus would like the auditoriums and the preaching jumping all over the chairs?

Jesus does, in fact, really and substantially come to our church. He lives in us and we in Him.

I believe that He would like the fact that we Worship in the way that He taught the Apostles and that has been passed down from His time through the millenia down to this very time. You see we worship using the Liturgy of St. James, (yes, the same James the Apostle who wrote the Letter of St. James in the bible) which he learned directly from Jesus.

Your servant in Christ.

I don’t know…I know God was “concerned” about the building when He told His Priests to construct The Temple in a very particular manner and Jesus certainly cared about the “building” when He saw how the money changers defiled The Temple.

Of course He cares about us all, but He also cares about The Altar (that He Himself defends in The Gospels).

Being that Churches (physcial buildings) are part of The Law and that The Law was not abolished by Christ, but fulfilled by Him, it is still in effect until the end of time.

Amen.

While Jesus is spiritually wherever two speak in his name, He is only physically in The Catholic Church!

What would Jesus like about your church?
I would say veneration of Blessed Sacrament. Since Jesus Christ himself is the present amongst us.
What would Jesus dislike about your church?
I think anyone who received the Body and Blood of unworthily Jesus would dislike it and the lack of veneration of the laity and religious not living out their faith. I think these would greatly disturb Jesus Christ.
