If Jesus died for my sins, why go to Confession?

Jesus died once for all our sins. Please define what sin He died for. All the sin of my life? If so, explain why we go to confession to be absolved of our sin. If Jesus died for my sin then why do I go to confession. I realize that I through my own fault can sin and become separated from God. But then I think that Jesus died for my sin so how then can I be separated. I look forward to hear your answer.
