“Sweating” of Jesus in the tomb where he was laid hints Jesus lived

At the place of the Crucifixion, nobody could say that Jesus was not dead. It would have been harmful to Jesus. There was no excuse not to break the legs. But since every one pleaded that he was an honest good man of God (Even the Roman soldier praised Jesus after jesus was brought down from the Cross) and that he was really dead, no need to break his legs, he was spared from severe damage.
It is defeinite that Jesus was alive and he had only fainted on the cross. Suppose that they broke his legs. Then after resurrection,he would be without proper legs, would he not? Coming back to life (i.e. resurrection) has no meaning, no need at all. There is no need to kill him and then bring him back. What use is that? Why is that so important? What purpose does it serve?
It makes a bad point that Jesus being a God died. God died is not good. Also, according to Deut 18:18, it is not good that Jesus die at all withing a few years of his preachings. That will prove that he was a false prophet and a cursed person too. Double defect.
The words resuurection is being used so often. At the same time, earlier versions were that Jesus got up. That is simple and more understandable that Jesus got up from the lying down position. We Muslimsbelieve that Jesus did not die on the cross and he was not a cursed person.
New discoveries prove that Jesus did not die on the cross. God also did not want that Jesus should die on the cross. Jessu also did not want that type of death and Jesus prayed in the gardenbefore his arrest to avoid the cup. All is there in the bible too. An angel was strengthening him. That means the angel was giving him surety that he will not die and his prayer to his God was accepted.
His words on the cross “O my Lord, O my Lord, why have you forsaken me?” also prove that he was given assurance that he would not die on the cross. But seeing all the conditions for death were appearing real and that he was about to die, he called out to his Lord (GOD) and trie dto remind God about his promise of saving him from death.

The logic is incredibly silly. Breaking the legs hastened the death of those not yet dead because they could not then use their legs to push themselves up to gasp breaths - the ultimate cause of death in crucifixion is suffocation. That the Romans did not break Jesus’ legs shows that He was already dead.

And not breaking His legs because He would need them to walk around on after His Resurrection?! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi

If Jesus legs would have been broken when he was delivered from Cross then how he would have walked upto Galilee.

I love Jesus and would defend him against hollow ideas of Paul

Thanks

Paar,
You are missing the fact that God can fix the legs…or maybe you deny that God can perform healings…

Perhaps that is why you cannot accept the Crucifixion. Do you think that God can perform any miracle he chooses, even raising the dead or fixing broken legs?

New discoveries PROVE he didn’t die? There are none because he did die.
There is nothing in the bible about an angel strengthening him. Do not say the bible says this or that without giving the book, chapter and verse please.
Now, your last part. Remember that Jesus also had a human body and could and did suffer as anyone else. Again where in the bible does it say he was reminding God about his promise of saving him? Book, chapter and verse.
Please, I know you were taught these things but your posts show that you don’t know or have read the bible. You can’t just add your thoughts or opinions to the bible to try and change its meaning.

Um, He’s God? I think that’s a good enough explanation.

Do you ask how it could be that Muhammad supposedly split the moon or rode up to heaven on a horse? Or are you willing to accept these as miracles from Allah?

Hi

I agree that GodAllahYHWH could fix his legs; but He did not do anything like that for Jesus, He only healed his wounds to some extent that he could come out of the tomb perhaps with the help of his frineds who laid him there and cared for him. If God would have healed his wounds without a scar on his body , then perhaps, we could have guessed that his broken legs would have been fixed by GodAllahYHWH. But Jesus body was the same as before with the wounds of nails in his hands and the rest of the body:

Among the testimonies of the Bible in support of Jesus’ escape from death on the Cross is his journey to a far-off place, on which he started after coming out of the tomb. On the morning of Sunday he first met Mary Magdalene, who at once informed the disciples that Jesus was alive, but they did not believe it.

Then he was seen by two of the disciples when they were going out to the countryside; and last of all he appeared to the eleven when they were at their meal and censured them for their callousness and lack of faith. When two disciples of Jesus were going towards the hamlet called Emmaus which was at a distance of 3.75 miles from Jerusalem, Jesus met them; and when they were near that hamlet, Jesus went forward to part company with them, but they did not allow him to go, saying that that night they would be together.

He then dined with them, and all of them, along with Jesus, spent the night at the village named Emmaus. Now, to say that Jesus did all this with a spiritual body (which is supposed to be the nature of the body after death), which only the physical body was capable of doing, as, for example, eating and drinking, and sleeping, and making a long journey to Galilee which was at a distance of seventy miles from Jerusalem, is saying something impossible and quite against reason.

In spite of the fact that on account of individual bias the accounts of the gospels have differed, the texts as they are, nevertheless, clearly show that Jesus met his disciples in the ordinary mortal human body, and made a long journey on foot to Galilee; showed his wounds to the disciples, dined with them at night, and slept in their company.

Now, here one has to consider whether, after acquiring an eternal spiritual body, i.e., after gaining that immortal body which entitled him, having been freed from the necessity of eating and drinking, to sit on the right hand of God and to be free of all wounds, and pain, and infirmities, it still suffered from one defect, although it had the glory of the Eternal and Ever-Existing God – the defect, namely, that his body had on it fresh wounds of the Cross and the nails, which were bleeding and were very painful and for which an ointment had been prepared,

and even after acquiring a glorious and an immortal body, eternally sound, faultless, perfect, and unchangeable, that same body continued to suffer from defects of many kinds: Jesus himself showed to his disciples the flesh and bones of his body, and again, not only this, but there were also the pangs of hunger and thirst – necessities of the mortal body; otherwise, where was the need for him during the journey to Galilee to do such useless things as eating and drinking water, resting, and sleeping?

Undoubtedly, hunger and thirst, in this world, are painful for the mortal body, which may even prove fatal if they become extreme. So there is no doubt that Jesus did not die on the Cross, nor did he acquire a new spiritual body

I love Jesus so I won’t like that he dies a cursed death as imagined by Paul. Jesus died a natural and peaceful death in India. God bless Jesus!

Thanks

I will response to the whole of your posting later on, Paar. But, for sure, the idea that Jesus died on the cross was not Paul’s idea. I will get the quotation later on, kind of busy now. OK.

The other gods were strong, but Thou wast weak;
They rode, but Thou didst stumble to a throne;
But to our wounds only God’s wounds can speak,
And not a god has wounds, but Thou alone.
from “Jesus of the Scars”

I’m deeply sorry that your pride cannot allow you to see the glory, redemption, and love in the death and resurrection of the Christ. I will pray for you.

With compassion,

Ruthie

In the Old Testament (Book of Job), we also find, that satan was allowed to test Job, but was not allowed to break a single bone in Job’s body. There may be some form of parallelism here. 🙂

Hi

All guess-work as usual with Catholics , in my opinion.

I love Jesus

Thanks

Others have told you that historically the legs were broken to speed up the dying process. He did not faint, and just to prove that, he was speared through the heart. Indeed the water and blood mixing was written as proof of his heart being pierced and thus proving death. As far as the idea that he would be without proper legs; if God can and DID raise him from the dead, he most certainly would have fixed a broken bone too wouldn’t he? The purpose for pointing out that his legs were not broken was twofold: First to fulfil prophesy that he had not a broken bone and second to show how much he suffered. Dying on a cross is a horrible death, to shorten it by breaking legs so he could die faster would diminish the suffering. Now for the bolded part: Death and ressurection does have meaning. By dying Jesus conquers death, he dies, he comes back… death has no meaning anymore. Through the death and ressurection we are brought to share in eternal life with God in heaven. He brings us into salvation through his death and ressurection, it is **the most important part **of Jesus’s works and teachings.

Jesus was true God and true man, his mortal body could be injured and even die, but the true God aspect will never die.
Deut 18:
16 As thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb, when the assembly was gathered together, and saidst: Let me not hear any more the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see any more this exceeding great fire, lest I die. 17 And the Lord said to me: They have spoken all things well. 18 I will raise them up a prophet out of the midst of their brethren like to thee: and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him. 19 And he that will not hear his words, which he shall speak in my name, I will be the revenger. 20 But the prophet, who being corrupted with pride, shall speak in my name things that I did not command him to say, or in the name of strange gods, shall be slain. 21 And if in silent thought thou answer: How shall I know the word that the Lord hath not spoken? 22 Thou shalt have this sign: Whatsoever that same prophet foretelleth in the name of the Lord, and it cometh not to pass: that thing the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath forged it by the pride of his mind: and therefore thou shalt not fear him.
v 18. God is telling us that he will send us a Messiah who will speak Gods word.
v 19. God warns us that rejecting the Christ is rejecting God.
v 20. God says that he will slay false prophets. Look in the past, God slays these people instantaneously and of obvious circumstance, they just fall over dead, not get turned over to Romans and crucified.
v. 21-22 Tells us that we will know a false prophet because what they prophesy will not come to pass.
None of this shows that Jesus was a false prophet or that he was cursed by God.

Jesus prayed in the garden… in the garden Jesus said that if it was possible to take this cup from him. That was his human side showing at that moment, it reminds us of Jesus’s humanity and that God knows our hearts. But the important part is what he says next: Thy will not mine It is the Fathers will that Jesus is sacrificed to satisfy the broken covenant that God made with his people. Covenants, by definition, require death if the covenant is broken. Jesus offered up himself as sacrifice to satisfy that requirement. That is not all he did, he also brought us a New Covenant, but that is another post. The angel was sent to strengthen him to carry through his commitment to die for the sins of the people not to reassure him that he wouldn’t die.

Jesus’s words on the cross were to remind us of Psalm 21. He is showing the Jews that he is the fulfilment. He is dying for our sins as described in Psalm 21. He is not crying out and cursing God. In v. 5 of Psalm 21 he reminds us that he IS the fulfilment.

Hi

If Jesus’ legs would have been broken then he would’nt have recovered from his injuries in 3 days time; as he had with the ointments prepared wit herbs prepared by Nicodemus.

With broken legs at many places it might have taken several weeks to recover. He could not have come out from the tomb himself perhaps without crutches or a stretcher, in my opinion.

Things would have been very difficult for him.

His legs were not broken, so he escaped death, and when cured from his injuries he was able to start his journey to India, later.

Thanks
