If life does not begin at conception why does Planned Parenthood hand out so many condoms?

I can answer this - I think.

I don’t think Planned Parenthood sees it this way. They simply don’t get it. You and I get it, but they see unwanted pregnancy as an unfortunate mistake and not the will of God as you or I would.

My parish priest said that sex with a condom is the moral equivalent of masturbation. Only difference is (obviously) you are using somebody to get the job done. Masturbation does not make anyone pregnant and neither does using a condom, most of the time. I understand why masturbation is a sin, but I’m inclined to say that if a person has a weak moment and uses a condom to have sex - ESP. with somebody they barely know - then I’ll have to say that this is a lesser sin than an abortion or even being on the pill. Being on the pill, to me involves a sort of “premeditation” to have illicit sex. Hypothetcally, a person may be trying to avoid sexual sin and just kinda find themselves in a bind one day with the condom scenario.

If a condom fails to do its job and the woman gets pregnant, then by no means should she have an abortion. However, if the condom works and the woman stays un-pregnant, then there is nothing preventing her and the guy from going to confession and trying not to do it again. why beat them up for not having the added responsibility of having a child to tend to? I know it sounds a little bit liberal on my part, but people make mistakes, too.

The problem is a condom only compunds the sin. It helps faciliate the sin. It increases the chances one will continue to act badly. It supports an industry that should not be suppported. It gives a false sense of security. It makes the act masturbation as you correctly say and may help ruin one’s marital relations in the future if one sees such actions as acceptable.

Well, I didn’t think about supporting the industry. You do have to purchase them and in doing that you kinda vote with your money. This is why so many Catholics boycotted the DaVinci Code movie, for example. And I suppose that if you bought the things and had them in your bedroom somewhere that could make it easier to do what you wanna do, ya know? You say at the end “if you see such actions as unacceptable.” I say this is possible, but at the same time a person who believes and knows that using a condom is wrong can, shall we say, suspend their thinking long enough to have a little fun? I mean, if this didn’t happen with human beings every so often, then we’d all be perfect and never need to go to Confession for anything. See what I’m saying?

Sin is never fun in any authentic sense. In fact, the illicit thrill we get from sin is part of the punishment for sin. It keeps us coming back to do more bad acts drawing us away from God.

To use the argument that half the eggs don’t implant anyways is like saying people die anyways through natural causes; so why don’t we make murder legal, what does it matter? To end a life is never justified. To think we can have safe and rare abortion is equivalent to safe and rare murder.
