“If meatless FRi would become the norm, how would you feel about it?”
It wouldn’t bother me. I’ve been mostly meatless on Fridays (except for a few exceptions) since Lent and quite frankly it’s a practice that I think is good for me.
We DO live in a selfish, self-absorbed society and I think doing little things like this to sacrifice our desires and our wants is a good thing. Fasting too is valuable (unfortunately I wouldn’t dare fast at this point with the hours and kind of work I do - I’m prone to fainting spells as it IS and I think fasting would just make things so much worse).
‘I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship…’
Sometimes when I read that verse I interpret it to mean that we have to give up what we desire and offer it up as a sacrifice to God.
That would include meat on Fridays (I’m a HUGE meat eater so for me it IS a sacrifice).
