I know it used to be the regular practice pre-Vatican II to kneel to receive communion, and mostly on the tongue. Some friends and I were discussing this practice, and if it was still acceptable to do so. I asked the priest that is doing my marriage preparation if this was ok, and he said it is left up to the discretion of the bishops.
He also said that Pope Benedict has a kneeler brought in front of him while he is distributing communion so those that prefer to kneel may do so, but that those who prefer to stand can do that as well. Are we in a time of transition to the old way of doing things? If my priest is ok with me kneeling to receive, is that ok?
