I know that God is Love because it says so in 1 John. I also know that God does not hate anyone and although we shouldn’t humans have the ability to hate sonmeone. Does this mean we are capeable of something that God isn’t? I don’t think it does, can someone please clarify?

First of all you have to decide at what point do you consider actions demonstrate hate. God has killed humans since the beginning of time, as the Bible states, that in itself is proof that God hates some humans.

In any case, even if you don’t accept that as proof that God can hate, there’s still a few ways around your dilemma.

If you think God cannot hate humans, then you can at least agree that God says he hates sin, so he can hate.

If you still refuse to see that as hate, then you can still argue that the fact that God cannot hate doesn’t have to mean humans can do something God can’t. In fact you can view it reverse: it’s actually humans who can’t love infinitely because we’re bound by our sinful nature to hate sometimes, while God is free from that. So it’s actually him who can do something we can’t, not the reverse. And of course you can also argue that God could hate everything infinitely if he wanted, he just chooses to love instead.

Either way, you don’t have to worry about God’s limitations.

Thanks you! I completely forgot that God DOES hate sins, however not the humans who commit them

Yeah, that’s arguable, but whatever you wanna believe, man.

To hate is to lack love. It is not a separate positive reality apart from love, just as when we turn the lights out in a room darkness doesn’t rush in to take the place of light. It just gets less dark. God cannot lack any perfection. So it isn’t that we have an ability God doesn’t in our hatred, it’s that we lack something of which God is the perfection.

Proverbs 6
16 These six things the Lord hates,
Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
17 A proud look,
A lying tongue,
Hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that are swift in running to evil,
19 A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among brethren.
