Calmdown:

The Church is made up of all true believers that have put their trust in Christ alone and him only for salvation not an institution or denomination.
Read your history book. You’re interpretation is a relatively recent innovation.

Well, for your info flyfan, I read the history books in the Library which are more accurate than the Catholic history book.:highprayer: I wonder why?

Orthodoxy of Course.
There is no question. Rome is wrong on many issues. Even Rome admits it.
The real question is why do some stay?

I have been saved by Grace alone and not of myself it is the gift of God through Jesus Christ.
Eph 2:8-9 For by grace are you saved through faith not of yourselves it is a gift of God not of works lest any man should boast.
You add the word alone. You subtract “through faith”. In doing such you seperate yourself off from the mystery of redemption. The greek word here is “pistos” it is properly translated faithful. Note this is in agreement with Paul’s call in Romans 1 to “obedience in faith” or faithful obedience.
Works is “ergo nomu” and refers to leagalistic observance of the Torah devoid of Christ.

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? …"
(Jn 6:68)
Remember this is to Jesus. Peter is asking.
The question was not “if Christ” but “If Rome”.
We can be sure of the Church complete and universal not a particular prelate or pastor. Even Rome.
Orthodoxy calls you to grow into the full stature of Christ. It affirms that guided by the fathers and guarded by the Spirit you can judge right from wrong. In matters of faith and morals.
The sin of the protestants is that they refuse to be formed by anything visible thus are formed by “angels of light”, that is demons.
The sin of Rome is that it relegates truth to a formula like making cookies and requires only intelectual ascent.
These are over simlifications to be sure. Yet both are but two sides of the same coin. One with the overbaering father in rome, the other his grand children who are given no direction at all.

I did not subtract faith on purpose, it was an accident. Faith is also a gift of God. I am saved by Grace **Through faith **which I had already pointed out above. And I am saved by Grace alone. I work because I am saved not to be saved,

Was not St. Peter crucified up side down in Rome… and before his death he ask God to forgive them for they know not what they do. It is Jesus Christ church he laid the foundation for the whole world, he is the corner stone, God has made Jesus our High Priest forever. Did St. Peter hand them over or were St. Peter’s keys given to him by Jesus stolen? I am really confused about this the Keys.

Will not the Catholic Church not also be judged how they built? upon Jesus foundation? Jesus is the Rock. Like how have I lived my life, have I been fruitful maybe I am a small stone on the foundation or have I lived my life only building with straw on the foundation, understand what I am trying to say?

Thanks
Ephesans 2:20 my friend - the Church was indeed built on the foundation of Christ - AND on the foundation of the Apostles!

Will not God also judge YOU in how you built upon THEIR foundation? If you didn’t build on them as well as Him then you have indeed built on straw.

Thanks abcd that makes simple common sense. God Bless

The Catholic Church was and is the Church founded by Christ. It was to Peter that the promise was made in Matthew 16:18-19

18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

When heresies abounded, it was the See of Peter that remained strong when others faltered and compromised.

Though many have broken communion and many have lost faith in what has been promised, I remain with the Roman Catholic Church. If it has failed and taught error, then Christ’s promise has failed and it indicates Christ is not God.

If that is the case, then our problems run all the way back to the beginning, and we may decide whether to be Jews or atheists.

But I have faith that Christ is God and Rome is not wrong despite what others might claim.

Your own history shows a lot of errors that the Catholic church has made. The keys of the kingdom was the confession that Peter made that He is the Christ. Read the whole context of that chapter not just part of it. You can not base a doctrine on one or two verses.

I think I am passed understanding that I will be judged but thanks for reminding me LilyM

That is what I meant when I said “I” could be a “small stone” or be building with “straw”… meaning be burnt up— re-read what I said…

It is not “THEIR” foundation there you go causing division. We are all called to build upon the foundation, the building up of God’s Kingdom. ONE KINGDOM, ONE GOD, ONE FOUNDATION, “ONE” To spread the gospel, to pray for souls, to tell others etc.

We are all called to become “disciples” of Jesus Christ think about it… We all called to become HOLY, SAINTS, ETC. We are the temple each one who make up Jesus Christ church. What seed or fruit we will be, we do not know till after we are brought home.

Our flesh is already dead to sin. We need to conquer ourselves first, don’t you think? Our mind, heart, soul, strength. ST. Paul… but I have put on the mind of Christ

God Bless

Put on the mind of Christ. Paul said. Paul was no longer doing his will or doing what he desired but what Jesus will and desired for him. Jesus did what God will and desired for him.Jesus moved with God serving his thoughts, his will, his desire. Jesus and God moved as “ONE” I do not want to serve my thoughts but to know and serve only the thoughts of God for me.

That is were we need to conquer ourselves first. This to me is where I am at war everyday asking God for help knowing I am nothing and can do nothing without him.

Thanks God Bless

Please substantiate this claim that Rome admits it’s “wrong” on many issues.

You are nothing unless you build on the foundations Paul refers to in Ephesians 2 - scripture says it, not I, that the Apostles are foundations along with Christ the keystone, and that we must build on all of 'em.

If you have a problem with Ephesians blame Paul, he wrote it, not I.

And HOW did St Paul put on the mind of Christ? He explicitly sought the blessing of St Peter and the other Apostles before he even began His ministry to the Gentiles - in other words He sought to be of one mind with THEM. "Who hears you hears me’.

You can’t conquer yourself without wholeheartedly submitting to the authority Christ set over us. HIS chosen, the Apostles, and THEIR chosen, their succesors.

Paul disagreed with Peter, sure - because Peter wasn’t, in his actions, living up to the teaching he professed as regards the Gentiles - but Paul never challenged that teaching, not a jot of it! And was always submissive to it.

This is almost too laughable to even bother responding to, but The Catholic Church is the only Church that doesput things in context. Not just the chapter, but the entire Bible. Since you just joined this site 2 days ago, I’ll give you a bit of advice. Your arguments are not new, they have been refuted on a daily basis for a long time. You’ll need to contribute something a little better to get any notice.

I’m rather glad it is simple, I would have a hard time with anything more complex.
The complex comes in the part where we grow and I have always been encouraged to learn and grow into the spiritual understanding from the Catholic Church. I have been encouraged to ask questions and seek.

How do I change my abcd name to something else?
Thanks
There is a way I think you go to the mod and e-mail, I think that you have to start over with numbers though let me know I have been wanting to change mine for awhile but not sure what I would chose. Actually yours is easy to remember.
