If shelby is corrct pls condi run for president - read his column in the wall street journal.

Partial text from column:

The problem Mr. Obama poses for Republicans is that there has always been a disconnect between his actual performance and his appeal. If Hurricane Katrina irretrievably stained George W. Bush, the BP oil spill left no lasting mark on this president. Mr. Obama’s utter confusion in the face of the “Arab spring” has nudged his job-approval numbers down, but not his likability numbers, which Gallup has at a respectable 47.6%. In the mainstream media there has been a willingness to forgive this president his mistakes, to see him as an innocent in an impossible world. Why?

There have really always been two Barack Obamas: the mortal man and the cultural icon. If the actual man is distinctly ordinary, even a little flat and humorless, the cultural icon is quite extraordinary. The problem for Republicans is that they must run against both the man and the myth. In 2008, few knew the man and Republicans were walloped by the myth. Today the man is much clearer, and yet the myth remains compelling.

What gives Mr. Obama a cultural charisma that most Republicans cannot have? First, he represents a truly inspiring American exceptionalism: He is the first black in the entire history of Western civilization to lead a Western nation—and the most powerful nation in the world at that. And so not only is he the most powerful black man in recorded history, but he reached this apex only through the good offices of the great American democracy.

Thus his presidency flatters America to a degree that no white Republican can hope to compete with. He literally validates the American democratic experiment, if not the broader Enlightenment that gave birth to it.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I was under the impression that Rice was not pro-life, or much of a social conservative.
To follow up, I pulled this from a web site called On The Issues:

“On abortion, Rice is “mildly pro-choice.” While she opposes late-term abortions and Medicaid payments for abortion and wants parental notification and consent where a minor is involved, Rice supports the basic libertarian idea that it is up to a woman to decide whether to have an abortion, and she is against getting the government involved.”

Thought that would be informative.

God Bless,
Joan

Short summary, if I understand this correctly:

Skin color is the most important feature of an Obama opponent. I prefer to think America isn’t yet that shallow.

It’s true that Obama’s “brand” is far stronger than his real performance merits. But attempts to counter that with shallow racial equivalents will merely confirm the worst stereotype of Republican shallowness.

No, the repubs must find a candidate with the best possible ideas and experience that counter balance the areas where Obama has proven weak and ineffective (or counter productive, such as making Bush look like an amatuer spender).

Wow, lets feed the cult of personality–empty suits with good publicity–by throwing more empty suits out there. God is in charge. Hear and obey Him. Go to confession. Pray and work. One more action figure isn’t going to make you wonderful. God makes us wonderful. Like warriors of old, we must stay in the state of grace; go to confession frequently and fit ourselves for battle.

Publicity-driven cult-of-personality idols can rise or fall on good publicity. We pray for discernment, Lord, and the will to do Your will in the corporal and spiritual works of mercy because YOU RULE! When the government has fallen, where will you be? Waiting for your action figure? Be that action figure. Be a heroic lover.

Be those helping hands with hearts sustained by God. What good would another empty suit be in the Joplin disaster, for example? Joplin R&R/relief and rescue shuts down over the Memorial Day weekend so an empty suit flying in from Washington can pump up their publicity while the people suffer. I killed Osama. I saved Joplin. A savior in sharkskin. Got it? Those who would rule must serve. May we do so in God’s will and grace. Hey! Isn’t that a TV show? More cultural co-opting…

Rockefeller–the old gaffer–was deservedly hated. So he got a PR company. Rockefeller passed out shiny new dimes to children. Carnegie was hated, and he got people to put his name on buildings if they matched his donations, essentially subsidizing more PR. And the Americans loved the evil financiers, and Americans have been trained to embrace the shiny of Satan appearing as an angel of light. In 2008, America elected a blank slate upon which publicists writ large a story we liked. The abandoned child of Arab slave trade lineage became an African. The banker’s grandson became an Irish peasant.

“We won’t be fooled again.” Hunger and thirst for justice. A leader can’t create a just and holy nation. Be salt and light…Not those toxic mercury lights; be LED’s. George Soros will be another beloved figure if all goes well for the empty suits. One little child with a pure heart can overthrow him and his eleven tons of gold and all those empty suits he bought and pumped full of air.

Infant King of Kings, reign and rule in all hearts through Your Sacred Heart; and bring the Immaculate Heart of Mary her deserved honor and triumph for saying yes to all You will. AMEN

You’re right - I didn’t think of that - just assumed she was pro-life. I googled her position and she claims to be “mildly pro-choice,” whatever that means. I bet if she digs a little deeper into the position of abortion, she might not be so mild. This is a good overview: bloodmoneyfilm.com.

When Ms. Rice was at Stanford (Dean?), it was widely accepted that she was gay. She co-owned a house and associated loan with another woman. It is possible she just incurred a big debt with a good friend, but… lets face it, it isn’t all that common. She and her friend have refused to speak on whether Ms. Rice is gay, but as noted, before her political career, it was widely accepted that she was. Just like we all knew that Arnold was a womanizer, and now expect more illegitimate babies to emerge from our current ex-Governor’s scandal. We all know Condi’s reputation in our State, her lack of any male dating history (except one guy she used for political events where a date was mandatory), and her absolute refusal to consider public office.

Now personally, a gay, black, female President of the USA wouldn’t bother me in the least. However, considering she is a Republican, and sorta iffy on the whole pro-life thing… I doubt anyone is going to convince her to run for POTUS.
