If somebody asks for your coat

While I was looking in my bag for food to give a woman in the street, a probably homeless guy asked if I had any socks. I said I only had the ones I took with me in case it gets cold tonight. I had already worn them… he said that was ok. Worried about getting cold feet later, I didn’t give them to him. Now I feel so very guilty. I almost feel sick I feel so gulty. I have been looking for him but can’t find him anymore. What should I do??? Take this to confession??? Did I do wrong at all or am I just being scrupulous? I was just worried because my knees ache when it gets cold so I took some socks with me. :-((((
 
WOW!!! I am stepping out of this computer shop and there he is walking towards me!!! I gave him my socks now. I think the night won’t be too cold.
Wow. Weird. This is more than an hour after our first encounter today.
 
You know what they say about “entertaining angels unawares…?”

Great story; in fact, it made my night.
 
I’m so glad that “you didn’t get cold feet” 😃 😃 and you gave him your socks.

That was a very kind thing to do!!! I love hearing good things that people do for others and who knows what effect you had on the person you were so kind to???

He didn’t **take **your coat but you did the right thing.
the passage is in Luke; 17-26, 29.
I think Jesus was speaking of people who rob and steal and showing forgiveness. And doing unto our neighbors as we would like done to us. Here is a article from wiki and it speaks of some that would take a coat but not an undergarment (tunic under) because it would leave the person naked.

Interesting story, I have not had that happen to me. I would have been nervous also of doing that.

Many a time many a guy would walk on me and they got a knife or were serious I’d give them some money. Luckily I seldom have much in my pockets.

I’m for organised charity.
