how would you answer? With my own kids I would just say that Santa is a saint in heaven, but what do you say if it’s someone else’s child?
I would ask-what does your mommy and daddy think? And ask what does the child think and why are they asking?
I would not commit to a yes or no answer–very easy to do with a preschooler.
Seconded. If you’re not sure, just redirect the child to their parents, who will know how they wish to answer the question. Though its doubtful that any pre-schooler will remember the answer you gave within about a week.I would ask-what does your mommy and daddy think? Agree.I remember the fist Christmas I realized there wasn’t really a Santa. I was so letdownOne of the happiest times in my life was when I believed in Santa. Kids will get to reality soon enough. Allow them the innocence and joy of Santa in childhood.
:thumbsup:Great answer! Everyone handles Santa in the way that is appropriate for his or her family and child.I would ask-what does your mommy and daddy think? And ask what does the child think and why are they asking?

Exactly !Why not take.the opportunity to tell.the child about the real Santa Claus - St Nicholas of Myra - while perhaps tactfully avoiding questions about reindeer and elves and so forth? It’s a great teachable moment.
