If someone misses mass

If someone misses mass for an excusing reason, are they required to do other things such as watch a mass on tv, make a spiritual communion, or read that day’s gospel readings or is this just a pious practice that some people do?

Yes. Those are good things to do every day.
 
No, they are not required to do those things if they can’t make it to Mass. It’s a good idea to make a spiritual communion, read the propers, &c. but it is not required.
