Depends on the context and tone of why and how theyāre calling me religious. I mean my family says Iām the most religious person in the extended family and I take that as a compliment, since at the very least it means all the old religious books, tracts, etc⦠from when members of the family a couple generations back were all religious, end up in my collection.are you offended, or is it somewhat of a compliment?

Yes. Most of my friends are Catholic, and they know I work for the church, so it doesnāt come up in conversation much.Even if it was meant as an insult, I would take it as a compliment. I only hope that the way I live my life speaks loudly enough for me to get pegged as a āreligiousā person.
Along the lines of being called religiousā¦
My sisters and I were once thinking of taking a trip together, just us girls. We were each making suggestions. I answered my one sisterās suggestion that I did not want to go to the beach (because I canāt take the heat, and I burn easily as does the third sister.)
Her response, meant as a dig toward me: " Well I donāt want to go to a monastery."
That was the end of the conversation.![]()
If someone used the term in a derogatory manner, yes, that would annoy me. I donāt like it that people treat God with disdain. Moreover, if I really looked into my heart, Iād have to admit thereās just something about non-religious people (and especially their views on religion) that just irks me.are you offended, or is it somewhat of a compliment?
One time my daughter said something about me being a religious fanatic and I stopped and told her that I have given my life to Jesus and she said Mom, I know! I was happy because I didnāt know it showedā¦Shortly before we moved, I overheard a neighbor telling another neighbor that I was a āreligious fanatic.ā I found it rather funny, because sheād never even spoken to me, and all she could have known about me and my faith at that time was that I walked two blocks past her house to church and back every Sunday. If thatās all it takes to be a āfanatic,ā I guess Iām completely whacko⦠and Iām okay with that.![]()
