If the Multiverse exists

So the Bible is wrong and God was not walking around in a garden? I think you’re in trouble if you start taking the Bible metaphorically.
Do you believe God has ten fingers? And how do you explain the discovery of an 8,000 year old settlement in Romania? Taking the Bible literally can create problems. 🤷

Psst…

I once went to a zoo which had a curious sign: it said “Please do not feed the animals.”

Now that I’m older, I know what it meant. 😃

and there really are copies of us in higher dimensions, as scientists now sometimes propose, was Jesus there too? I’ve heard there is only ONE Incarnation, so how can these be reconciled?
There is one incarnation that pertains to our universe and human race. If there are other universes or planets that hold human life such as ours, I suppose God could have other plans for it. I don’t believe there are other races of intelligent beings which are completely identical as our own human race, so maybe our race is the only one that needs redemption according to the Divine plan for our world.

Maybe Adam and Eve are Romanian? 😃

  1. Which 8000 year old settlement are you talking about?
  2. Jesus is God and Jesus has ten fingers.
  3. Do you take the words of Consecration from the Bible literally, or metaphorically? Did the Resurrection literally happen?

  2. Jesus is God incarnate. He is also man.
  3. Not everything in the Bible is to be taken literally. If your eye causes you to sin, are you actually going to pluck it out? The myth of Adam and Eve and the fall originated in Babylon about 1,500 years before the Hebrews adopted it. The story is true, but only in symbolic terms.

And Jericho, Palestine, has archaeo sites 10,000 years old. So?

It is possible that many generations were skipped in the recounting of those events.

That the texts of the Torah in their present form originated in Babylon during the exile should surprise nobody.

Asked and answered about the fingers. He has feet, too. 🙂

This is simply a theory in science which has not and probably will never be proven. What does the Church say? The Church has no view on this so a Catholic is free to decide on this matter. There is only one incarnation, indeed. So how God would deal with sin in these other universes if they exist is unknown to us.
Well said! 👍 The multiverse is really just a secular excuse to (temporarily, unsatisfactorily) explain how a new universe can come to be. It’s ridiculous when we look at it like that.

If people wrote down what I said 90% of the time and took it literally 100% of the time they would be very confused…

I was talking to a language exchange friend and said “I am milking my injury”

My Russian pal said “how are you milking yourself?”

But clearly according to this logic you have posted I must have indeed had my fingers on my injury tugging slightly to gain secretion… there is no way I meant that I was stretching out the light duty I was on at work…

As for OP, I am not a fan of limiting God. He can do many things that are near incomprehensible that I can comorehend but have never seen etc…

I have no doubts that His true reveal will be far grander than the most incomprehensible thought ever pocessed by a human.

Personally I look forward to learning the things that I can’t even imagine, and I can imagine alot as it stands now, including a multiverse.

Just think of thing far more comolex and confusing being revealed and being able to fully grasp them o.O

Heaven, should I be permitted, will be a awesome (in the literal word meaning).

And clearly I was physically stretching out lighting as a duty and not doing my job with things I did not have to do.

And clearly, by clearly physically I mean that I was literally clear as in you could see through me…

And by “you could see through me” I mean you personally were there and saw through me…

And by you saw through me I obviously mean you took a saw and cut through me from one side to the other…

Okay, okay I have made enough ridiculous examples of where taking speech “literal” gets us…

And by where it gets us I mean a physical location we are all now present in because of my example making…

Muhahhahhaa sorry I just had to!

So the bible is to be taken metaphorically? that’s what Protestants say about the words of Consecration. And that’s what JW say when asked about the passages in John referring to the divinity of Jesus. And that is similar to what Orthodox say when asked about the promises that Jesus gave to Peter. They will say that it does not imply papal infallibility. That is what an atheist might say about the Resurrection. Also homosexuals will not take literally the passages in the Old Testament condemning homosexual activity.

You did see my examples right?

So I would say as it follows we could choose to take my overly literal examples and overly metaphor them etc.

So all speech period can be used negatively. The crux in truth is I have met few who deny strict morality from the bible like for example homosexuality who don’t give human indicators during their speech patterns.

Something akin to:

“How can you say being gay is okay per Christianity”

“Well it has to be …Umm yeah like I want it to be and like umm ummm umm well God loves me so what I want is okay and that stuff isn’t right”

call that a mixture of accurate speech mixed with representative forms of facial expressions and sinking body language. The body is rarely as skilled at denial as the mind 🙂

Anyway, if not for a church set forth by Jesus than what the heck? let us all just decide to go overly literal or overly metaphorical!!! do our own thing.

The issue is we can use denial to change the meaning of almost any sentence to fit our bill.

I almost fell over when I realized the passage about Demons having faith and works being necessary for salvation was not only quoted on a protestant radio station, but was IN the protestant BIBLE…

They just say that Luther said it isn’t a good part of the bible…ummmmm okay… EVEN the councils and leaders of the protestants could not hide the truth from themselves, they could have easily just removed the book from the bible… But I say maybe as much as they are allowed denial the Holy Spirit maintains that minimum truths must be available?

We need to use common sense… Simply by the examples I set forth in my earlier post we can use mental tricks and denial at any turn. But only if we can free ourselves of our selfish need for denial can we just go with intended meaning and not whatever we want to twist. If we struggle with this, then there is the church founded by Jesus… but denial can make that sound untrue.

Honestly if you really don’t like the Pope thing, at least go Orthodox… I believe that they are closely guided still by the divine 🙂

The impact would be similar if ET and his visits here are true, if they have souls, etc. Communitive justice would change. All references to definition of ‘person’ would now encompass the cosmic world. That’s the tip of the iceberg. The theological complexities would be enormous. Till then I believe in one God and one universe.

🤷

If the multiverse exists… I will send them my dirty dishes. 😉

There is as much **evidence **for a multiverse as for pink unicorns, so philosophizing about it is probably not a great use of our strength.
