If the Rapture actually happened, what would you do?

It ain’t that easy. When I was an evangelical, the rapture was held over our heads as a reason to not party, go to the movies, listen to secular music, have sex, etc.
Wait, all secular music? Wether it’s about sinful stuff or not?

Some churches believe that.

I remember a Pastor at a very well known megachurch stating that if someone wanted him to attend their wedding reception, they could not have secular music. Except for classical. 😛

Such a scenario is completely unbiblical, and is in fact, 180 degrees out of phase with what the Bible actually says. The Bible actually says that the good guys get left behind and the bad guys get taken away to hell.

Publishing a story that perpetuates ideas such as the rapture encourages unbiblical error. I would be very cautious about doing so.

Hey Tim I have to respectfully disagree with your findings. When Jesus comes the second time The living and the Dead in Christ rise first. We are going to meet with Jesus in the air. Here is more information about the subject. There is a theological question that has disturbed millions of Christians and has lent untold doctrinal confusion to the modem religious world. That question revolves around the manner of Christ’s coming back to this earth at the end of the world. Multitudes have been led to believe that Christ will return secretly. What about the so-called secret rapture? A large number of Christians have been exposed to this “dispensationalist” or “futurist” interpretation of prophecy and have been hopelessly confused.
According to this view, the coming of Jesus will be in two separate events. First, He will come secretly to take the church to heaven, and then, seven years later, He will come in an open demonstration of power and glory. In between those two events, the Antichrist is supposed to come into power and the great tribulation period takes place.

But the truth is that the Bible nowhere speaks of these two separate comings of Jesus. There is no second stage of His coming that occurs seven years after the so-called “rapture.” By the way, that word “rapture” is also an invention of theologians. It can’t be found in the Bible in even a single instance. It is a word coined for the second advent of Jesus.

Now here is what we find in the Scriptures: Christ’s coming, the resurrection, and catching up of the saints to meet Jesus in the air, all take place at the same time, at the end of the world. This is why Jesus said, “Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20). Now why would Jesus promise to be with the church until the end of the world if He intended to come seven years before the end to take them out of the world? The promise would have no meaning.

Which ‘desert’ would you rather be, the Cake Desert or the Sahara Desert? 😃
“Nobody doesn’t like Sahara Lee”…
(Or maybe you are too young to remember that little jingle for Sara Lee…)

This is getting bad…

I should go to bed now…

Peace

Nothing but Classical - How about “Classical Gas” by the best picker in the world…

I knew one person that thought that even Classical music was of the Devil. We were only to listen to Hymns. I wonder what he would say if he knew a lot of the melodies were borrowed from drinking songs…

Well anyways, if I was left behind, I would be really confused  since I was taught OSAS, and I said the sinners prayer tons of times… Shouldn’t that cover me even if I am now…… a Catholic!

That’s just nuts. Where do they get these ideas?

I’m going to be honest, if the rapture actually did happen, I would probably crawl back to the Evangelical church in tears and repentance.

Because that would mean they were right all along and the CC was wrong.

If there is a Rapture, then according to Evangelical theology the only requirement is that you have A- admit you are a dinner, B- believe Jesus died for you as Gods sacrificial Lamb and C- confess you sins and begin a personal relationship with Jesus.
Since I do these things as a Catholic at every single Mass - penitential rite (and gonto confession frequently), renewal of the eternal covenant in the Eucharist and welcome Jesus to dwell within me and be spiritual food for my journey through life in Him, I have no fear that I would be missing the Rapture if the Evangelicals were right about it. The reason they say that Catholics aren’t “saved” is because they have no idea what all the “rituals” (also known as beautiful liturgy) and sacraments of the Church do.
I have no idea what the end times will be like but I love Jesus and do my best to live a contempletive, penitent and humble life. I trust myself to the mercy of my Savior.
Sacred heart of Jesus have mercy on us.
Immaculate heart of Mary, pray for us.
Amen. Alleluia.
…But I don’t want to be a dinner : D

points thanks for saying what I was too chicken to say.

Yes. If fire came raining down from the sky, engulfing all the non evangelicals, well…if that was where Jesus really was, I guess I’d have no choice.

But no, I don’t think it’s true. Just hypothetically speaking.

I think what Tim was refering to was rather the same; we too believe all those events take place at the same time, or at least in the same occurance of events. One might happen right before the other (the wicked being swept off the earth) but it takes place in the same time context as the rest. Like how a tv show has a teaser first, then the opening song, then the first act. One happens first, but all at essentially the same tine.

I didn’t say anything about Jesus coming twice at the end of time. I said the rapture was unbiblical and that at the end of time the good guys will remain while the bad guys go to hell.

My post did not say that Jesus will return twice.

A literal “Catching up” of all believers to literally meet Jesus in the air is also not proper Biblical exegesis. “Going out to meet” was a custom in the Old Testament. You can get an understanding of what Paul was alluding to by looking at the instances of “Go out to meet” in the Old Testament here. Go out to meet was a common phrase in Jesus’ time and Paul was not talking about a literal flying up to meet Jesus in the air, but his return and being escorted back to earth as a king.

So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” (John 12:13)

Just as there is no rapture, there is no literal flying in the air to meet Jesus. Paul was speaking alegorically about Jesus return as a victorious king.

If the rapture did happen, I’d keep my faith in solid Catholic Biblical exegisis and assume that the good guys were “Left behind.” Hooray for me.👍

Wow.

I would ask Jesus for Mercy, and hope that I was one of those few Catholics who was “saved” since I always heard from evangelicals that some catholics will be saved and don’t even know it

If the rapture did happen, then everything else would follow as in the Left Behind Series. I read that when I was a kid, so I don’t remember all the details.

That would include flying up to meet Jesus in the air, graves opening up, the Great Tribulation, etc.

I remember singing At the Midnight Cry.

So yeah. If all those things happened as per the series and as per how I was raised to believe, I would be having a serious crisis of faith and I would be praying every day for God to keep me and guide me.

But since that’s not going to happen because the CC is right, there is nothing to worry about. 😃

I’d check out the “left-behind” women. I’m not picky - and I’d hope they wouldn’t be 🙂
