If the vatican was in nyc

I think we might remember that we are members of the universal church not the American Catholic church. The USA is one among hundreds of nations. The church is not always going to be in agreement with American foreign policy. The USA is looking at issues around the world from a national perspective. The church is not a nation and so will never be 100% behind any nation’s policy.

As other posters have said we should debate exactly what the Holy Father and church documents state about the war in Iraq and the war in Afghanistan.

yes they can, all they have to do is follow forum rules, and provide a legitimate link to the alleged statement, not that hard

and in 2 weeks nobody has done that, so I guess the Pope did not say he is against the war on terror. Somebody has provided an out of context quote without a link suggesting he is against the specific intervention in Iraq by the US, not the same thing as being generally absolutely against any response in the war on terror, but on a specific war which it turns out was entered into due in part to false intelligence information. Not the same thing.

i read that the Pope is against the war on terror. i read that he is also against the war in iraq. my logic is this…now, going with what i read, IF it is true, and the Pope is against the war in iraq and on terror would his stance be different if the vatican was located in nyc instead of italy?

i have friends in the marines, and i tried joining but i have too many tattoos (cant be tattooed above the neck line or below the sleeve line and im tattooed from under my chin to my finger tips). they all get so offended because all the news shows is bad stuff. they dont show the marines handing out blankets, pillows, supplies so these people can live and be free. all the good they are doing. i dont want to get attacked for asking this, but the Pope does realize that we help them over there. we give those who renounce evil supplies be as comfertable as possible…

again this is all just my logic and thought. i am not perfect. i dont mean to be judgemental at all.

Osddso, The Pope is not in favor of killing innocent people nor disrupting and destroying the lives of the innocent. The Vatican could not possibly be moved to NYC as the Saints are all buried beneath the Vatican and cannot be moved. There is a huge difference between going to just war against obviously violent and offensive criminals and invading countries who are essentially peaceful. The Pope is right in condemning invasion of peaceful nations and the US has already admitted this error by electing Obama who promised the withdrawal of invasive forces and rededicating the effort to seeking out only those responsible for criminal acts against the American people. This is not hard to do, when you aim your weapon simply ascertain who you are shooting at to make sure it is in fact an enemy. If the military targets only those in question there would be no objection from the Pope but it must be remembered that killing criminals does not accomplish the ends of justice either, capture and incarceration is far more preferable as a deterrent to crime. That goal is achievable if applied with reasoned integrity and skilled approach to the enemy.
