If there is no marriage in Heaven, why did God make humans male and female?

I just wanted to see what Catholic thought has been on this question before concluding that. I am honestly surprised them I looked up this question on the CAF search and found nothing. I thought for sure that there would be more answers to this than people giving me the old birds and the bees, but, whatever. I guess this was a stupid question.

Well, you see, when a daddy bird and a mommy bird love each other soo much… Well, Uh, never mind.
I guess this was a stupid question.
It’s not a stupid question. The problem is that there’s no answer. Nobody knows what we’re going to do for eternity or how it will affect our physiology. My guess, God will probably sit us all down and reveal something new and amazing.

I am just hoping this something new and amazing won’t come at the cost of what I already love about the current state of affairs.

So, something I have been wondering for a while now. When I see people talk about what Heaven will be like on here, it seems that we will all love each other in the same, perfect way and there would be no distinction between the way you love your earthly spouse and some stranger you’ve never even met before Heaven. But, does that not render the built-in complementarity of human beings pointless if marriage or some other distinct way of relating to the opposite sex is not part of our ultimate destiny?

Anyway, if this question sounds dumb, I apologize.
For reproduction in the life before the resurrection.

Mt 22:23-33
23 On that day Sadducees approached him, saying that there is no resurrection. They put this question to him, 24 saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies without children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up descendants for his brother.’ 25 Now there were seven brothers among us. The first married and died and, having no descendants, left his wife to his brother. 26 The same happened with the second and the third, through all seven. 27 Finally the woman died. 28 Now at the resurrection, of the seven, whose wife will she be? For they all had been married to her.” 29 Jesus said to them in reply, “You are misled because you do not know the scriptures or the power of God. 30 At the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage but are like the angels in heaven. 31 And concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God, 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.” 33 When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at his teaching.

To be honest, the current state of affairs has a few problems. Just look at the endless relationship and sex threads on CAF.

Whatever God has planned will most certainly be an improvement. We’ll be back on track to what was intended.

Of course. I didn’t say I love everything about the current state of affairs. But, that beautiful complimentary between the sexes, I’d be incredibly sad to see it go.

There’ll still be Man and Woman. Just No Marriage and by extension of that No Sex.

I’m sure we’ll all be capable of friendship and love.

Viruses have to hijack the machinery of cells to reproduce. We would wind up being parasitic, not that viruses are parasites because of arbitrary definitions.

I presumed we were made male and female so we could “be fruitful and multiply” in order to populate the earth.

We don’t need to “multiply” in heaven, so gender is a moot point up there.

I’ll be very happy to see all the arguments everybody has about gender on earth vanish into the ether of heaven. Whenever we sing “One Bread One Body” and it gets to the line about “Gentile or Jew, servant or free, woman or man, no more” I think “yeah and it can’t happen soon enough IMHO”.

For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free person, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendant, heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 3:27-29
Good news!

It happened when you were baptized.
