Question in title.
Who said there was no Nazareth when Jesus was born? Jesus was born in Bethlehem and was raised in Nazareth, that is why he is called Jesus of Nazareth.Question in title.
By “many” you must mean few. As 99.99% of all Christians believe Jesus was born in Bethlehem as stated in the Bible. It is said he grew up there…and many believe he was most likely born in Nazareth, too.
Did it not exist as a city before that?
.
Skeptics said the same thing about the Sheep Gate pool from John 5, which similarly was mentioned nowhere else. They concluded that it was made up by someone unfamiliar with Jerusalem. Then they discovered it.skeptics and attackers of the faith say Nazareth never existed because it’s never mentioned outside the bible
I live in a town so small people an hour away have never heard of it. Altho it is naturally listed in many government sources, it is certainly not mentioned in any history booksskeptics and attackers of the faith say Nazareth never existed because it’s never mentioned outside the bible

People have said that about a lot of things which were later proven to exist.skeptics and attackers of the faith say Nazareth never existed because it’s never mentioned outside the bible

To be frank/blunt here, only people who rely on outdated information would actually believe this. The whole idea about Nazareth not actually existing in the 1st century is really an argument from silence - not counting the gospels and works which are dependent on it (i.e. later Christian texts), no other source (i.e. the Old Testament, Paul, Josephus, the Mishnah/Talmud) ever talks about the place. In essence, they assume that if Josephus or any other source doesn’t mention the place, it didn’t really exist. But this is really a weak argument: there are plausible reasons why Nazareth couldn’t have been named by Josephus and by the Rabbis.Question in title.
