If this was Kerry’s day, I could only imagine…

Any protesters?? Doubtful.

Snowballs thrown and hitting Edwards’ limo?? Nope.

Any CNN audio feeds of republicans chanting “f*** Kerry” as his mototcade drives by?? No.

The press interviewing anyone who disagrees with Kerry?? nope.

Half of Hollywood on parade?? Groan…yes.

Perhaps the most boring inaugural address in history??

You make the call.

There will always be some there to protest something.

Probably so. There are idiots on bot sides.

See above, but it would be on Fox News.

Again, see above.

Ok, we both agree on this one.

Without a doubt.

I’m Republican, but I can’t stand to see other conservatives take the high and mighty road.

I can’t say I liked either candidate, but now that we have a President, it sure would be nice to see people show a little respect. Yes, it’s quite clever to throw snowballs at passing cars…when you’re in second grade. Can we just grow up and be adults about it? I think that would make for an exciting inagural. OK, snap back to reality. It’s calculus homework time.

A “fair and balanced” reply. 😃

I was not a republican until 1999, when I came to my senses. But I don’t remember wacko republicans wasting time or on inauguration day in '92 or '96. Do you??? Am I wrong about that??

And if there were chanters and egg-throwers, were they treated with “objectivity” and/or respect by the press??

Perhaps you should rethink your position…are you really a Republican…
Nothing wrong with taking the high road…don’t know what the mighty road is?
I am not a republican or dem. but do tend to be conservative…

No need to rethink my position, I did that last year. I focus more on the issues than I do which party is better, though I do have a tendency to vote Republican 90% of the time.

I said mighty meaning “we are so much better than you, yada yada yada.”

  1. Protesters: Yes, the pro-lifers would be out there, bless them.
  2. Snowballs: No. Republicans tend not to be proud of getting thrown into jail by the Secret Service.
  3. Republicans chanting foul language: I doubt it. Nixon proved that some Republicans do use foul language, but they tend to be a well-behaved group in public. (See #2.)
  4. Press interviews of dissenters: Probably only the pro-lifers would be out, and the press won’t touch them with a ten-foot pole.
  5. Half of Hollywood: Yes… a more colorful parade than the Wall Streeters and the Junior Leaguers, but much harder to watch. (Wouldn’t they be shocked to know that?)
  6. Boring inaugural address: Oh, absolutely. Killer boring.
On the other hand, Kerry might have mercifully pulled a Carter and been a bit less ostentatious on the spending and not shoved the security bill onto the cash-strapped city of Washington, D.C. (But then, Kerry would have had votes to lose in D.C., too!)

Agreed. Except that Kerry has never been exactly spend-thrift, especially with other people’s money…

Then there would be more successful terrorists attacks on U.S. soil.

Yeah, I guess fighting off egg-throwing liberals while Bush is in office is a better deal than dealing with suitcase weilding terrorists while Kerry pontificates.

Yeah, I guess speculation should take the place of facts…

This is why I hate politics. And please don’t call me some “bleeding-heart liberal,” as I am quite moderate and don’t align unconditionally with any party.

Don’t say that too loudly. Our current president is running up quite a tab… one of the things that has the fiscal conservatives tearing their hair out.

If someone had told me in 1979 that we would get a* Democratic* president in the 1990s who would erase the national debt, only to have the first Republican president who comes along run the thing right back up, I would have said that they were nuts. The labels “Democrat” and “Republican” have changed so much… well, I suppose one always had to read the fine print, but still!

Think of it… the Berlin Wall came down in our lifetimes, too. I hope that the next thing that surprises me is seeing both parties falling all over themselves thinking up ways to end abortion and capital punishment.
