If used for decoration, are Dream Catchers OK?

:rolleyes:Geez louise…of course you can…it’s your house. **Decoration **is a matter of taste.🤷
Agreed. You don’t believe that the dream catcher is magic- it’s just for decoration. Also it makes you think about another culture. It’s like we have a picture of Nigerian people on a boat on our wall. By having it, we’re not saying we believe we’re Nigerian, it’s a nice piece of work from another culture and it reminds you of them.

I’m a “stright white person”, although I do have Native American ancestry in my ancestors (possibly from a raid that ended with taking my ancestors away to Canada and keeping them for a year or so in the village before they were brought back.) I am NOT into spiritualism of any kind but I do like my dream-catchers. I have them for decoration and because I enjoy looking at them.
See… there you go! I take it you aren’t into the buck skins either?

OMG… You should see the baby moccasains my MIL bought my kids when babies… They are about 2 inches longs… lots of beading. When my kids won’t grab and run, those will be put out one day too… Too cute!

Hey all you folks that think it’s ok to have a dream catcher, why don’t you just get a voodoo doll too, and them maybe a Buddha in your home or I know a idol of mother earth, harmless trinkets right Are you Catholics or not? These things have meaning and there fore attracts a certain dare I say spirit. Have em at your own risk. Not my home. Cultures my foot! Tell the Jesuit martyrs it’s ok!

There is NO RISK! There is NO IDOL… but if YOU THINK THERE IS… then you shouldn’t have them in your house. You give WAY TOO MUCH importance to some thread…

You’ve got to be kidding me. When I taught CCD many years back, my class made them. I think you are way too paranoid.

ooohhhhh
I was planning to buy one but confuse if it’s good for a catholic to use it. Sigh.
Here goes my story I don;t know if you can call it a nightmare or coincidence but it happens to me several times already. Like I dreamed of this old lady crushing my head, poking hammer on my head and I felt the pain. And the following morning I woke up with a terrible headache. This happens to me like twice? And after forgetting with the old lady I found myself dreaming again, this time with the devil, pressing my stomach so hard that I can no longer breath. His like punishing me because I was trying to fight him and resist him, and the following morning? I woke up with a terrible stomach ache lasted for 3 days. I’d like to think that it’s just the food that I ate, but why the dream?

I’m not entirely sure what you are saying, but it kind of sounds as though you want a dream catcher because you want to actually use it to get rid of bad dreams? If that is the case then of course in no way can a Catholic get a dreamcatcher for such a purpose. If it were just for decoration, that is different, but believing it has powers and trying to use those powers is not ok.

of course they are ok. It is a novelty of times past.
I donate to a Catholic Indian school for orphans. Every now and then, they send me a dream catcher. I have about 20 of them now, but only one is hanging in my bedroom. The rest are hanging on a hook in the Kitchen…LOL
