If we are able to go to heaven, what is the purpose of "the resurrection"?

I recently had a discussion with Jehovah’s Witnesses concerning their doctorine and teaching on death (we die and are unconscious until the resurrection when God will recreate us from his memory) vs. the Christian belief of immortality of the soul (our hope of eternal life in heaven with the Lord). They asked me if we die and can go to heaven, then what would be the purpose of the resurrection and final judgement. Unfortunately, I didn’t know how to answer – any help will be appreciated.

Humanity was created as both body and soul. Even in heaven we are, in a sense, incomplete. God wills that we *and *creation be saved from sin. Thus the resurrection and the new world is God’s triumph over sin.
