If we are saved by faith alone, why aren't demons saved?

A choice is made, absolutely and that all that is needed for justification. Faith and choice are the same thing. Is that a work ? Absolutely, the Father’s. God asks Job if he can turn the heart of a man. For one to claim a self work in that choice is to contradict scripture and say there is something good in us. (before regeneration). I think, not sure, Council of Trent says my statement is anathema .
But of course there’s something *good *in us; we’re fallen, weakened, corrupted and unable to save ourselves but we’re still made in the image of God, His handiwork, maybe with a potential only He can see at times. 🙂 He just wants to pull that part of us to the fore, helping us to make the right choice, as opposed to say, the Calvinist doctrine where the choice is made wholly for us. And therefore the choice for those damned to hell is made wholly for them-not a very nice God BTW IMO.

How does St. Paul define a saving faith in Galatians?
For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but faith which worketh by love.

Luther comments as follows:

Jimmy akin, in the following article, seems to get the approach of Lutherans, from a Catholic perspective. Perhaps he can answer your questions better than I can.

Okay, so it’s a faith that ***works. ***So it’s not just faith alone. We have to do something with our faith.

Yes, we have to do something, with the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit, or it isn’t a faith that by grace justifies. It is a dead faith.

Faith and Deeds

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that —and shudder.

20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[d]? 21 Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”[e] and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.

25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26 ***As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. ***
