I had never dreamed about applying to seminary, but I just did … at the age of …30’s. 🙂 (and so few of my new friends in 20’s, 40’s and one in 50’s are applying at the same year!). Do I have all the qualities as a priest? Of course not…that’s where the seminary is for us - to help us grow and to continue discerning God’s will for us.

Please keep all of us in your prayers that we will receive grace to accept whatever the outcome will be.

My main purpose of this thread is, in my humble desire, to hope that readers on CAF to have courage to give this discernment process a chance. If you have guilts about your past, do not let this stop you. If you feel unworthy, you are on the right track. If you think you are old, my friend is in 50’s! 🙂 If no one seems to support you, Jesus and Mary are on your side - go talk to your priest.

Do not be afraid. You have nothing to lose. I have learned more in the last 3yrs, especially 5 months about myself, my life, loved ones, relationships and God. Spending months and months reflecting on my whole life -I had never done before - in my autobiography is worth doing and very enlightening.

John 15:13 - No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

God is indeed God of Love and Mercy.

Go for it!

Congratulations withwind, I’m glad you went for it! 🙂 I will pray for your vocation, you have a wonderful outlook.

God Bless you,
Teresa Ann

Congratulations 😃 I am in the process of discerning my vocation at the moment:) I will hold you and your friends in my prayers and thoughts.

Thank you for your prayer! Last night, I came home and the Vocation Director let me know ahead of time that I have been accepted. I still have one more interview with the seminary’s faculty.

Please also pray for us as I received the news this morning that the Pope has assigned our awesome bishop to another archdiocese in another state. He has been so supportive of vocations. Please pray for me to have confidence and trust in God in this transition - having to wait for the new Bishop and hopefully the new one will be as much supportive as the current one.

Thanks!

What wonderful words of encouragement! Yes for any members here… don’t be afraid to pursue your dream. If you don’t yet have a vocations director… at the very least take the first step by speaking to a priest or a sister or the vocations director of you diocese. Take the step of looking into religious life. Even if you find you are called elsewhere? Time spent seeking Gods will for you life is never wasted!
Again “withwind” Thank you for your posts and blessings on your journey!

I most certainly will. I’m sure the new bishop will be as supportive. If he is different than you had hoped, look around you, your support will come from someone or somewhere else. I’m so happy for you and your new life! While you wait, pray and prepare. God has brought you this far, so just trust in him. I find it quite assuring that He, who knows us better than we know ourselves, is at the wheel. Hand it over to the Lord my friend and be comforted.

I’d love to hear of your journey here and there if you have time. It would be inspiring.

I will pray for you,
TeresaAnn

God Bless you withwind 🙂

I can’t wait until I enter a seminary, unfortunately I have to wait 4 years…it feels equivalent to the night before Christmas where you can’t wait to go downstairs to open up your presents. I will pray for you and your friends.
