If we'd all been born as Mary, wthout original sin

would we all go straight to heaven without any time on earth? Did the fact that Mary was born without sin give her a greater strength to reject sin, and/or could she have sinned?

I assume the devil was created without sin and he became evil, so what difference would it have made to us, to be born without original sin? I realise that Mary conceived the son of God and he had to be born from a sinless vessel.

I would say the answer is NO. I can think of two other people born without original sin and they did not go to heaven (Adam and Eve). However, Christ went to Hell ("…was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into Hell…"

See CCC 635 and the ancient homily, which states, “…He has gone to search for Adam, our first father, as for a lost sheep. Greatly desiring to visit those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death, he has gone to free from sorrow Adam in his bonds and Eve, captive with him - He who is bother their God and the son of Eve…I am your God, who for your sake have become your son…I order you, O sleeper, to awake *I did not create you to be a prisoner in hell. *Rise from the dead, for I am the life of the dead.”

And Adam and Eve not sinned, they would have lived forever in paradise. For as the CCC also tells us, all of creation was made by God for man, and Man was made to serve God.

You’re quite right, for some reason I had forgotten about Adam and Eve. So, being born without original sin may not offer us any advantage as, in theory, we could, as Adam and Eve did, still commit sin.

The actual advantage it would give us is that no temptations would come from within. All temptations would be external.

Mind you after posting the above comment, I realised that baptism removes original sin - so are we in effect like Adam and Eve after baptism? If so, why can we still commit sin through internal temptations?

After baptism we are restored to a right relationship with God. However we are not restored to the original condition of Adam and Eve. We suffer the permanent wound to human nature that was created by original sin. So our internal desires continue to tempt us.
