If you are a Christian, what is the real reason for you not being a Catholic? - 2

Some are cafeteria Catholics, they pick and choose what they want to believe. A true Catholic is one who knows, loves and tries their best to live the Catholic life. Why did God make me? To know, love and serve HIM in this world and to spend eternity with HIM in the next. His way, not mine.

That’s ever so good and I’ll steal it and put it in a German forum 😉
It also matches partly my post today in „Re: Doesn’t God get bored?“

Now of course we can not ask all other Christians, (not to speak of all other religions) to become Catholic. They are born into another sight of things, and many of them are better humans than many of us. And besides: There is many a Catholic who hears the church and does everything exactly right, but forgets, that all this is second to LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR. Match how Jesus saw those lawful in Lucas 18:9-11

This business of one church being more Christian than another can become both boring and annoying. My own view is that God doesn't give a hoot whether we are Roman Catholic or Baptist or Methodist or whatever. Perhaps not even whether we are Jewish or Muslim or Buddhist.

As Christ once asked in exasperation: "Why call me Lord, Lord, and do not the things that I say?" (Luke 6:46) He doesn't look at our denominations or our creeds. Jesus examines our hearts to see whether we follow his commandments to love God and love one another.

All this silly and persistent quibbling over the true meaning of communion or praying to Mary or the authority of the Pope must trouble Christ. He wants his followers to work toward reconciliation, understanding, love of one another, respect for different viewpoints. Why have so many Christians insisted on making their particular expression of faith so narrow and intolerant? When someone has a different insight into matters of faith, why are we so quick to condemn when our response should be: "Interesting. Tell me more"? No, we certainly don't have to agree, of course, but we need to be respectful rather than dismiss such views as wrong, sinful or heretical.

Fortunately, most American Catholics and Protestants - certainly mainline Protestants - have an ecumenical spirit and seem ready to live in harmony and mutual respect.

Real reasons to remain Protestant or Catholic or whatever we are? Family heritage. Early religious schooling. Emotional ties. Comfort level. Marriage/family unity. Agreement with teachings. Even location of church, personality of pastor, where friends attend, etc. Lots of reasons why people choose a faith community, many of them more a matter of the heart than the head.

What Roy said is generally speaking, very true indeed. Yes, “Jesus examines our hearts to see whether we follow his commandments to love God and love one another.“

I’m sorry having to mention, that there is one mistake; he word “praying to Mary“, as Catholics try to explain for hundreds of years, that we do not pray to Mary nor to any Saints, but to God alone. Mary and Saints are asked for intercession. But that’s not the point.
The point however is:

Jesus founded one Church, the Catholik on, named such ever since the first century (Catholic letters).
Views that differ from the by Jesus Himself authorised and on St.Peter founded church, might not be sinful, but they are deficient – something is missing.
Ecumenism in interacting respect and love, can not mean to give up catholic points, which would mean we’d finally consider them as wrong and useless and false, but it must mean the return to the old mother Church in convincement that there was a lack of contents that we where originally presented by Jesus Christ.

The reason why first Protestants became Lutheran was: The Royalties and high nobility determined their countries religion and that was it. If we where born in a Lutheran family, Lutheran life would be ours. If in a Hindu-Family alike. But: We had the great opportunity to be born Catholic – let’s stay such, but in all the love God demands from us and accept any other human no matter what his religion is, for his heart might be nearer to God than mine.

Hey Ray5…

Well said; I agree to a degree! Respect is the bedrock of Christian cohesion and the ecumenical glue that can repair the great Christian divide!

However, the Bible does say the church is the “Pillar and Foundation of Truth” making it the benchmark by which all things regarding faith and morals is to be measured! If it said, the Bible is the “Pillar and Foundation of Truth” --protestants would be citing this verse every chance they got! But it doesn’t!

Jesus delivered the Great Commission (the church) immediately before ascending into Heaven after his resurrection when He said:

*“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. **Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” *Matthew 28:18-20

This great commission had/has the most important job on the planet; to be “fishers of men”–“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” He said to the apostolic church and by extension, the C.C. - "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation."Jesus ultimately made them fishers of souls. Mark 16:15

Therefore things like an authoritative body of overseers and the true presence of Christ (Eucharist) should never be compromised in the name of ecumenism, in my humble opinion! All Christians for the first few centuries (people closest to the apostolic church) believed whole-heartedly in both. As far as devotion to the Blessed Mary, absolutely not required. However, God did/does love and trust Mary --enough to be part of His Grand Plan for our Salvation --to bring His Son into this wicked world, who paid a debt He did not incur; shouldn’t we love and trust Mary as well. Jesus loved, respected and honored His mother and we should always follow Jesus’ example! Don’t all non-Catholics love, respect and honor their mothers? We, as catholic’s ask Mary to pray to Jesus for us. She is interceding, **kind of in the way a pastor might pray for you **. Even in the Rosary we ask Mary to “Pray for us sinners.” And we think she s quite good at that. Mary is a “born again” Christian who received the Holy Spirit at the Pentecost and spoke in tongues 2000 years before Pentecostals reputedly got the gift. (Acts 1:14, 2:3) She knows how to pray - yes even in tongues! Mary does not defocus from Jesus. Actually, Mary said the opposite about herself. She said “My soul magnifies the Lord.” (Lk 1:46) I think time devoted to Mary is no more defocusing than time devoted to other Church friends or with your pastor. To me the logical end to the “defocusing” theory is that I should never talk to or pray with any other Christians. It suggests I shouldn’t go to prayer groups, or even read the Old Testament (because it pre-dates Christ). It suggests I should only talk with Christ alone and never even talk to another human being. To me, that is a definition of a hermit and although it is a valuable calling, I don’t think it is for me. Mary’s role is not to jump on center stage and take the place of Jesus; quite the contrary. She just wants everyone to know about her Son Jesus and she will do anything to help that relationship. She is one of the reason I am a Christian today. As a Christian I always had lingering doubts, always on the fence, that was until I stumbled across a site called…
catholicdigitalstudio.com/miracleofdamascus.htm

Staunch detractors, Scientists, doctors, atheists, agnostics, protestants, all came away from their experience (unexplainable miracles) as true believers. These apparitions of both Mary first, then Jesus, are akin to what the C.C. teaches and what is contained in sacred scripture. Most people like my sister won’t even bother investigating the matter (she as most protestants, just says—must be the devil) --like you said, preconceived notions, familial reasons or comfort level has a lot to do with it! I guarantee, anyone who delves into these Divine visits from Mary and her Son Jesus to Myrna, in Damascus will be changed forever.

God is complete, no doubt about that!!! It is not out of Jesus’ incompleteness that he has called angels, Mary and saints to join him in ministry. It is not because he is not strong enough and needs help. He could easily snap his fingers and the entire population of the world would suddenly see God and know He exists. He does not need angels, Mary, or saints. Nor does he need you or me. It is out of his over-abundance of graces. It is his generosity, his desire to share his graces, his overflowing goodness, and his great Love for us. The Psalmist said “my cup overflows” (Ps 23). That is what God is. He is overflowing with graces that he shares with his mother and all his children. However He did give us free will and we can wilfully reject His love. If he loves us all so much as to invite us to join in his ministry, it is not hard to imagine that he would invite his mother to join in his ministry.

I think that the prayers of Christians or other in heaven (Jesus said “Now he is a God not of the dead, but of the living; for to him all of them are alive.” (Lk 20:39-40) ----through Christ are much more efficacious than the prayers of Christians still living here on earth. They are much closer to Christ than you and me. Protestants pray for each other, and they don’t say they are taking God’s place. When we pray for one another we are participating in the mediation but we are not the mediator. Catholics feel that saints in heaven, including Mary, can pray for us just as well (or infinitely better) than our friends on earth.

Martin Luther said, “The veneration of Mary is inscribed in the very depths of the human heart.” (Sermon, September 1, 1522). There is a difference between veneration of Mary and worship of Jesus. John Pacheco says:

There is a great difference between veneration (“douleia” in Greek) and worship (“latreia”). The word “douleia” occurs 5 times in the Bible. (Rm 8:15, 21; Gal 4:24, 5:1; Heb 2:15) never does it refer to worship of God. The word “latreia” occurs 5 times but it always refers to God only. (Jn 16:2, Rm:9:4, 12:6, Heb 9:1,6) And there are plenty of Old Testament references that distinguish veneration from worship. “Then Moses went out to meet his father in law, and he bowed down and kissed him…” (Exo 18:7)…(also 1 Chron 29:20, 1 Sam 24:8)

Some say “Consecration” shows that Catholics worship Mary. The word “Consecrate” means to entrust. I entrust myself to my closest friends but only one is my Savior…

…You said, “As Christ once asked in exasperation: “Why call me Lord, Lord, and do not the things that I say?” (Luke God is complete.”

Catholics believe in an authoritative, guiding/teaching institution, (where as protestants believe that the bible is our sole authority and private interpretation is all that is necessary) --established by Jesus 2000 years ago, and the bible will attest to this fact. Jesus selected 12 men to carry on what He started. Right off the bat we see Jesus delegating authority and providing organization. The book of Acts, through the laying on of hands illustrates the importance of authority, solidarity and organization, as opposed to disorganized individual authority, when it comes to matters of faith and morals—ONLY!!!

You said, “He wants his followers to work toward reconciliation, understanding, love of one another, respect for different viewpoints.”

—and I totally agree. But, when it comes to truth Jesus is unwavering! Just look at John 6 when Jesus said, *“He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has life everlasting and I will raise him up on the last day.” * Many of His followers rejected this new teaching 3 TIMES, yet Jesus did not waver; He was very resolute! --“I am the living bread that came down from Heaven, if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever. And the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” Jesus said, “Amen, amen, I say to you, he who believes in Me has life everlasting.” He told them that the ones who believe what He is saying, have everlasting life. Did He say the bread is a “symbol” of His flesh, or did He say it is my flesh? At this point the Jews doubt him even more as they said, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?” Isn’t this what non-believers in the “True Presence” say today? Jesus reiterates, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.” The very next verse, 54 says that those who eat the flesh of the Son of Man do have everlasting life. How then, could these verses be symbolic? Why do people repeat themselves at all? They do it for a purpose, in order to drive home a very important point. The Greek word for “life” used in John 6:53, is “zoen” which means, “divine life of GOD imparted to us.” There are other Greek words for “life” that St. John could have chosen, such as “bios” (bios). Why then did he choose “zoen” instead, other than to emphasize the fact that it really is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ? Jesus said, “He that eats My flesh and drinks My blood dwells in Me, and I in him.” Did He say, 'He that eats a symbol of My flesh…? How can a mere symbol fulfil this promise? Does only a symbol of Christ dwell in us? I thought GOD Himself dwelt within us, 1John 4:12-13. Vs 59, This verse shows that Jesus taught this discourse to all the people. They doubt a third time when many disciples said, “This is a hard saying, who can hear it”? The Jews were instilled by many Old Testament verses, admonishing them not to consume blood. See Deut. 12:23, Lev 17:11and 14. They must have thought this was something akin to cannibalism. At any point did Jesus back down? No!!! Any protestant reading this, could you please explain to me, if this chapter is symbolic, why did He not explain the symbolism to them? Vs 61, Jesus did not back down, for He said, “Does this offend you?” He knew their thoughts and He certainly knew the Old Testament verses about the consumption of blood. When Jesus sadly died on the cross for us, He wiped the slate clean, allowing GOD, His FATHER to forgive everyone, past, present and future of their sins if they repent and eat of His Sons Spiritual (not carnal) flesh and drink of His Spiritual (not carnal) blood equipping them with the Spirit of eternal life. Without Jesus’ infinite sacrifice and love for mankind, flesh would have continued to “profit nothing” and the Spirit would be totally unattainable. If Peter, the rest of the Apostles and Christ’s fledgling Church believed in the literal and not the symbolical, shouldn’t we all follow suit! Let us all live by the example of the ones WHO WERE CLOSEST TO JESUS CHRIST WHEN HE GRACED US WITH HIS PRESENCE HERE ON EARTH! Jesus said, “But there are some of you who believe not.” Jesus knew from the beginning who they were, and who should betray Him. We see in John 6:66… “From that time many of His disciples went back, and walked no more with Him.” Did He call them back and say, “Hey I was just kidding, it is only a parable”? No He did not, for in the next verse, He did just the opposite. He would have let them all go. Interestingly, the Jews knew exactly what He was saying. If they thought it was only a symbol, then why would they walk away? If they thought He had spoken only symbolically, then why did they not ask Him to explain it to them as they had done many times before? This verse does not apply to the Jews only. It applies to all of us to this day who reject the True Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. Finally, Jesus said to the twelve, “Will you also go away?” Right here, He would have let them ALL go for not believing what He had said, and He did not offer any further explanation. Interestingly it was Simon Peter who answered, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” Have you ever wondered why Simon Peter is usually the spokesman for the Apostles? In Vs 69, Simon Peter continued, “We believe and are sure that you are that Christ, the Son of the living GOD.” The Apostles believed Him. They did not walk away from Him as the Jews had done. Why do so many non-Catholics follow in the footsteps of the 1st century Jews in verse 66, and not follow the Apostles in verse 69?

It’s true, Jesus definitely wants his followers to work toward reconciliation, understanding, love of one another, respect for different viewpoints, but never at the expense of His teachings, and that is why it is so important to listen to the church that Jesus built on Peter (Kepha) and the apostles and prophets! Matthew 16:15-19 Ephesians 2:18-20

*"He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter (Kepha), and on this rock (Kepha) I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. (which means there is one church in the world today that is of God and will never fail!!!) --And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed[d] in heaven.” *

“For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God (which is the church—see 1Ti 3:15); And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone…”

You said, “My own view is that God doesn’t give a hoot whether we are Roman Catholic or Baptist or Methodist or whatever. Perhaps not even whether we are Jewish or Muslim or Buddhist.”

If that’s the case, then I guess I should totally disregard Matthew 18:15-18. Otherwise, which church would I “tell unto?” Is it the Roman Catholic Church or is the Baptist Church or is it the Methodist Church. The list is very very long! Why did Jesus even build one to begin with if it is so irrelevant as to which one we join? Did Jesus intend to build one church or did He intend to build thousands of churches? I think He cares a great deal!

I am positive Jesus loves Jews, Muslims and Buddhists as well, after all God is “love.”

“Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love.” 1 John 4:8

*“Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. **And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” ***K.J.V.

…Why doesn’t the bible, (if it is our sole authority) tell us that the bible is our sole authority? If you were to replace the word bible or sacred scripture with the word church in the following passages, you would then have a point…

Mt 16:18 - [In Context|Read Chapter|Original Greek]
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Mt 18:17 - [In Context|Read Chapter|Original Greek]
And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

1Ti 3:15 - [In Context|Read Chapter|Original Greek]
But ifI tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

Eph 1:22 - [In Context|Read Chapter|Original Greek]
And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

Eph 3:10 - [In Context|Read Chapter|Original Greek]
To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

Eph 3:21 - [In Context|Read Chapter|Original Greek]

Col 1:18 - [In Context|Read Chapter|Original Greek]
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.👍

If I remember correctly it was in the 1500’s I’ll have too double check.
this can never be true. why? because we would have to say that Jesus broke His covenant with the Jews. this will never happened.

this is a lie from protestants through a fall away priest who broke his vow of celibacy ML. ML has no power over the Church of the Covenant.

to look at the Church and condemn her because 2 or 3 out of 240 popes fell into temptation is like saying that God rejected and broke His covenant with the Jews. read the history of the jews, what they did, how many times they disobeyed God. yet Our Lord never abandoned them.
because God made a covenant from the beginning wiht Abraham to never be broken. and it continues to this day with His Church.

remember the Church begun with 12 jews. then it became 13, St Peter and the 12. this covenant will never be broken.

It's all interpretation Memaw, all interpretation. The Catholic Church has it's interpretation, other denominations have theirs, and we'll never know who has it right and who doesn't until we come before God. He may say, nobody had it completely right,
No, mikew, it is not “all interpretation”. Personal interpretation leads to relativism, and relativism to error. On the contrary, God’s revelation is not subject to human interpretation. Truth is what it is, no matter how everyone “interprets”.

" And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth." John 1:14

The Truth is a Person!

Furthermore, Jesus would not suffer what He suffered just so “we will never know who has it right”. Such a statement is contrary to the apostolic teaching.

“I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you.”
John 14:18-19

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.” John 16:12-15

It is the Spirit who guides into all Truth, not our "interpretations’ of what we read.
but for those who sincerely tried to follow the teachings I left and lived a good life will obtain their salvation.
People are not saved by sincerely “trying” or by living a “good life”.

Eph 2:8-10
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God — 9 not the result of works, so that no one may boast.

But what if the person sincerely believes he/she is following Christ’s teachings? Do you really think God will condemn them? One person’s rejections is another’s acceptance. To a Protestant, they are not rejecting anything (in their eyes), they are accepting Christ’s teachings as they see them. They may reject Catholicism, because they believe it’s wrong.
i see what you are saying. but when i see their disobedience to the Church, i think of the times of Jesus. i remember when Jesus spoke to the pharisees and others and they reject Him. they did not believe Him and that caused much anger on Our Lord.

i can’t tell if they will be condemn or not. i dol not condemn them myself.

Jesus left men in charge of building His Church. He did not leave a Book. not that the Bible is not important it is very important it testifies for the Truth. the Bible does not enterpret itself but the Spirit of Christ through chosen men is given such authority.

This has nothing to do with God’s covenant with the Jews. Also, God did not and will not break His covenant with anyone, because of a mistake made by man, no matter who it is.

T**his has nothing to do with God’s covenant with the Jews. **Also, God did not and will not break His covenant with anyone, because of a mistake made by man, no matter who it is.
yes it does.

God’s covenant is with the jews and not just anyone as you imply. Jesus made a New Covenant which is carried on by His Church.
you need to read “salvation is through the jews.”

Denying that Jesus founded one Church, the Catholic Church, is like telling HIM he didn’t know what HE was doing. The early Christians DIED for that Faith. It was worth dying for to them. They knew that. If your happy believing what you believe then what are you doing on a Catholic Forum, trying to start a conflict???

Jesus said He would build a church and that nothing (hell–Satan being the worse case scenario, and he has been diabolical in his attempts to destroy it both internally and externally) —would overcome it. Do you believe Him?
Code:
** ...Church history is complex, and there is no point pretending to be pure. Religion, whether Catholic, Protestant or whatever, has been the source of far too much prejudice, hatred, and even mass murder.**
No one person (member of the C.C. OR THE P.C.‘s) is completely pure; only God. However the church which is the Body of Christ, with Jesus as the Head, the Church of the Living God and Pillar and Foundation of Truth is completely pure regardless of the heinous acts of individuals claiming to be part of Jesus’ Mystical Body, a member of the church of the living God which again is the pillar and foundation of truth, the church according to Jesus cannot fail! Matthew 16:15-19

.**…It’s time we got beyond that and stopped the childish mantra that ‘my religion is right and yours is wrong’. My guess is that no religion comes near to understanding the true nature of the universe.
**
I agree! But, nevertheless, Matthew 16:15-19 does say --there is a church out there that stands out as the one true apostolic church, established by Jesus in the 1st half of the 1st century, that cannot fail, regardless of human defectibility within that church. And Jesus said He would be with that church “forever” “until the end of time”—He said He “would not leave them orphan.” If Jesus Christ says it exists, then it must! What church do you belong to?

Jesus didn’t say anything about the true nature of the universe; That wasn’t His mission; He came to save us from ourselves.

**…God is too big and too magnificent to be contained in a creed or two, or in a catechism of any length.
**
I agree!!!

**... Since I come from a family tree that has both its Catholic and Protestant branches, I believe I have insight into both. In the Protestant line - for example - a maternal, ancestral grandfather was about to be arrested for heresy in Ghent, Belgium, after embracing Calvinism (a Huguenot). To avoid likely death he and his family fled to England, and his grandchildren were part of the Puritan immigration to New England nearly 100 years later. My dad's side (French Canadian) had to cope with British Protestant rule for generations - though not as repressive as in Ireland.**
Makes you wonder what Jesus must think of all this violence in the name of, well Him! He died on the cross to save our souls and this is how certain individuals thank Him. Lets not forget all those individuals in the church that were quite saintly, and stoically emulated Jesus Christ and His virtues through those tumultuous centuries.
Code:
** ....Why keep these foolish conflicts going, especially when we all claim to be Christians?
**
Sadly as long as each respective church (denomination) thinks that they have the all-encompassing “truth” division and dissension are here to stay. Tomorrow, another church will arise claiming that they are the true apostolic church.

**The notion that only one church is the only true church hardly reflects the humility taught by Jesus ('blessed are the meek").
**
I agree! However, Jesus did build a church, according to the bible and the early church leaders. Would Jesus build in vain??? Do all the churches regardless of denomination, make up the true church? If so, shouldn’t all these churches be on the same “truth” page when it comes to the teachings of Jesus Christ?

**…I consider every other Christian, indeed every other citizen of the world, my brother or sister
**
That certainly is the right attitude.

*“But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” *Matthew 12:48-50

‘**’’- well, I do have trouble with those Christians, Muslims, Jews, whatever, who think that their faith is superior to all the rest. **

Some members of every Christian denomination, feel that their church is superior to all the rest. The C.C. is no exception. However the catholic church as a whole doesn’t share this sentiment. If it did I wouldn’t belong to it. No one person is spiritually superior to another. Some might have more money or more prestige but this counts for nothing in God’s eyes.

Sorry about that, all of you who continue to think that you belong to the one true and apostolic church founded by Christ himself.
What is your definition of the true apostolic church? Is it an invisible collection of all Christians who interpret the bible as they see fit, regardless of the conflicting beliefs, or is it a visible organization?

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
—Matthew 5:14-16

If -----*-“And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.”–is referring to an invisible church with all its members interpreting the bible as they see fit, regardless of their conflicting beliefs, then the gates of the netherworld did in fact prevail. * Divide and conquer is satans plan.

“…And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” Rev. 12:16-17

Sola scriptura and private interpretation are clearly not biblical!

*"…knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." *2 Peter1:20

The apostolic church is comprised of holy people and the bible says that the Holy Spirit was given to the apostolic church.

*“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”
  • John 1416-18
The protestant churches yield a multiplicity of differing truths which has led to division and dissension, all things the bible strongly admonishes.

Jn 10:16; – there shall be one fold and one shepherd
Eph 4:3-6; – one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father.
Rom 16:17; – avoid those who create dissensions
1 Cor 1:10; – I urge that there be no divisions among you
Phil 2:2; – be of same mind, united in heart, thinking one thing
Rom 15:5; – God grant you to think in harmony with one another
Jn 17:17-23; – I pray that they may be one, as we are one
Jn 17: 23; – that they may be brought to perfection as one
1 Cor 12:13; – in one spirit we were baptised into one body
Rom 12:5; – we, though many, are one body in Christ
Eph 4:4; – one body, one Spirit, called to one hope
Col 3:15; – the peace into which you were called in one body

The apostolic church existed yesterday, today and will continue to exist until Jesus’ second coming. The million dollar question is, which church today continues to be the apostolic church founded by Jesus Christ? For me it’s quite obvious. It is the church that can trace its origin all the way back to the apostles…

this can never be true. why? because we would have to say that Jesus broke His covenant with the Jews. this will never happened.

this is a lie from protestants through a fall away priest who broke his vow of celibacy ML.

**“I should not believe the Gospel except as moved by the authority of the Catholic Church.”
Saint Augustine (354-430), Against the Letter of Mani, 5,6, 397 A.D… **
Even tho there were 3, “bad Popes”, they didn’t do any harm to the teaching of the Catholic Church. They may have sinned in their private life but they did NO harm to the Doctrine of the Catholic Faith. The Holy Spirit would NEVER allow that to happen, no matter how sinful a Pope may be. The Pope is Infallible, not impeccable. To me, that is proof positive that The Holy Spirit does and always will protect the teaching of the Catholic Church.

yes it does.

God’s covenant is with the jews and not just anyone as you imply. Jesus made a New Covenant which is carried on by His Church.
You must have misunderstood me. God covenant is with His children. Wasn’t the old covenant overridden by the new covenant?

**There was harsh disallowances to my word, we pray not to Mary, we pray to God only.
Those of you, who knew me from former posts must know, that this is merely my mistake of translation, and I still can’t find the right word.
Some of you have the small book of Karl Keating. “What Catholics really believe”. In chapter 29 about the rosary, he explains, that we do not pray at Holy Mary, but we pray to God only.
Now – the word PRAY is wrongly translated by me, and I must ask you for the right one.

Some times the effort trying to understand each other (Americans among Americans and German among Germans and so on) too is a form of love we should practice.
Misunderstandings often simply grow out of lack of will to understand 😉

When my son was found with his back of his head battered, I prayd
DEAR GOD PLEASE TAKE BJOERN TO YOUR KINGDOM – DEAR MOTHER OF GOD PLEASE LEAD BJORN TO GOD.
Here we are. In the case of God, I prayed to God, in the case of Mary, I asked Her for intersession before God for Bjoern (please lead Bjoern to Jesus)

It’s a matter of the right word. Surely you have a word for praying to God and an other one for asking Mary or Saints to help us, for it’s God alone who is – I don’t know… prayed at, hollowed, - no dictionary tells me and it’s so easy – when you know. If anyone of you speaks German, here the right word is: “angebetet”. Gott alleine wird angebetet, Maria wird verehrt als Fuerbitterin (last word is “intercessor”.
**

**In Genesis 2Moses 20:5 and in Book of Revelation (what’s the short of that? book) Chapter 15 Verse 4 and 5:13b and on many other places, such as Math 4:10 we have the word – as we might find it in

vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/audiences/2005/documents/hf_ben-xvi_aud_20050511_en.html

as well (I hope).

In the Catechism we find the word in # 2097: To adore God is to acknowledge, in respect and absolute submission, the “nothingness of the creature” who would not exist but for God. To adore God is to praise and exalt him and to humble oneself, as Mary did in the Magnificat, confessing with gratitude that he has done great things and holy is his name. The worship of the one God sets man free from turning in on himself, from the slavery of sin and the idolatry of the world.

In the Book on Revelation we read again in 22:9 that no other person but God alone is to be prayed at – no Angel an not the holiest of all Holies, Mother of Jesus, Mary.

When we pray the Ave Maria or Rosary, we do not …(whatever)… at Maria, but we …(whatever)…

Surely now you know what I mean – but I still don’t know he right word 😦

There must certainly be two different expressions in English too of course.
Just let’s find the two expressions and everybody is happy. Might be “praying at” is right with Mary, but then the other word is relevant in reference to God.

Here we go with I, I again. Is it really up to I? Maybe you should spend a little time learning your Catholic Faith and spending some time with Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.
It’s really up to God. While lecturing me, you seem to have missed that point.
