I grew up Baptist, and had never known anyone Catholic. .

As I grew up, I wondered about the differences (and similarities) b/t us.
So I found CAF, and just enjoy the discussions and atmosphere.

Not on this thread, but unfortunately some do, the most recent just earlier this week actualy. It’s much worse with protestants though, you guys are generally a bit more understanding about other religions.
If your speaking of me, you’ll remember I corrected witchcraft being wrongly associated with the Satanism.

I am an Orthodox Jew but I enjoy learning about the beliefs of others… I visit a variety of religious forums, this is one amongst them.

There’s actually a lot of it on this forum. When I run into too much “That’s from the Devil!!!11111111oneoneone” on here, I usually take a break for a week or so. It’s very frustrating trying to explain something to a person whose mind is a brick wall. Just search for ‘yoga’ and you’ll see what I’m talking about. And that’s just yoga, not Wicca!

I am here because I read a thread about the Baha’i Faith on this forum and it intrigued me. There were so many questions, the Baha’is were overwhelmed and could not address all of them.

I am now here to answer those questions, while at the same time assisting Catholics to ponder and challenge themselves on what are the essential verities of their own Faith, in order that hopefully Baha’is can share a united understanding with Catholics on the meaning and plan of God for humankind.

Fostering this shared understanding can and should be extended to all spiritual traditions represented on this forum, and hopefully it will provide a seed that will eventually blossom into a more united global community of lovers of the Supreme Being.

I am at your service, dear friends 🙂

lol exact opposite for me. I am growing up with Baptists. In fact I literally live right next to a Baptist Church. Very Nice People

I came to find out why Catholics believe what they do and to explain that my beliefs are Scripturally based.

My dear brother/sister Kam 🙂

Welcome to the forum!

What an exquisite post. I think that you have joined this forum with a very worthy intent and with much good will towards your Catholic brothers and sisters.

I look forward to discussing things with you when I get over the couple of weeks of exams that are ahead of me!

Once again - welcome!

My husband is Catholic and I have gone through RCIA. My husband’s and my beliefs are very similar.

I spent the majority of my religious life ignorant about Catholocism. Through a serries of events truth started to replace my misconceived impressions of Catholocism - primarily through faithful Catholics and knowing some people that ‘came home’. The more I learn the more doctrine makes since. I’m finding answers for all my big picture questions that never seem to get satisfied in my non-denominational church setting - how we can be unified as a church and so divided by doctrine, how are we to interpret scripture, to whom do we ultimately submit to athority wise, etc.
All this to say I am very interested in all things catholic right now. However the people I’m surrounded by don’t seem to see the beauty in the Church that I do. So I’m hear to learn and broaden my understanding that I may help the people close to me understand what is to be gained by the Church.

My dear friend Vouthon 🙂

Thankyou for your warmth and radiance. I did notice upon reading some of the previous threads that you shone like a beacon, with the fact that you have shown such purity of intent and read (indeed are well versed) quite a large chunk of the Baha’i Writings.

This is a noble and honourable act indeed, and one that enables you to have positive dialogue with the Baha’is (who share many common values to the Catholics), hopefully resulting in fostering reciprocity and cooperation between the Baha’i and Catholic global communities 🙂

God bless you my friend 🙂

Kam (your brother)

I enjoy discussing religion and theology, and I consider Catholics my brothers and sisters in Christ, though from a different church tradition. The other forums on CAF seem to pertain specifically to Catholics, so I mostly stick to this one.

Greetings in Christ the lord of us all:highprayer: I just find the catholic church very interesting. Orthodoxy and Catholicism are just alike and only small things keep us apart. I just want to learn more about catholicism in general and help those who wish understand orthodoxy 👍

I enjoy theology and this is where I find the most Biblically accurate theology and discussion.

I was RC when I started out here…I’m not anymore, but I still have a lot of respect for the many wonderful people I met in my time in the Roman communion, and many people here. There is a lot of good in the Catholic Church, our theological/ecclesiastical disagreements aside.

I am mainly just a Christian. Sure, I belong to a church (in my case, Episcopalian), but as I see it the important church is the universal church, the mystical Body of Christ, and I’m really just concerned about belonging to that one. (And no, I don’t see the Catholic Church as identical with that; if I did, I’d already have joined.)

I’m interested in the opinions and perspectives of Christians of all kinds. I think Protestants, Catholics and Orthodox each have some things more right than the others. And I don’t rule out that non-Christians may know a few things too.

I mostly stay here, in the Non-Catholic section, because looking over the rest, it seems to be all about stuff only of interest to Catholics. The topics that interest me are here, as is a more interesting diversity of people.

I always like to know why different faiths come to the Catholic forums 🙂
Mainly, I came here to learn about Catholicism. The nicest little old lady in the universe was a Catholic lady I worked with in Utah named Mary. My homeschooling Catholic neighbors have a huge family but their kids are so well-behaved and polite it’s amazing. I don’t know much about your traditions and rituals and whatnot, but what I see seems beautiful and I can see the appeal.

I also want to learn more about what you folks believe about us mormons. I’ve been reading a bit on that.

I joined here because I wanted to decide whether to become a Catholic. Now I’m more like working out how to achieve that transformation and if I’m capable of it.
