The NKJV has it and the HCSB has a note with it.

Are you wanting to exalt the Confraternity at the cost of mocking Protestant translations?

That would only get in the way of all the positive things you can bring to the table instead of adding “mud” to the conversation…

And so you know, Tradition is full of “silly” scholars… In fact, some of the best scholarly minds can be found in our rich Tradition.

I don’t make a distinction between the best manuscripts, I have almost all the translations and apps and online tools and Tradition and tradition and ECF’s and Church documents and scholars and everything. I’m a lean mean bible reading machine 🙂
 
Silly scholars forget that this is a** battle for souls**. Being “correct” by some scholars standard is not always The Spirit. According to the Jews scholars and authorities, it is correct to not have the book of Wisdom as canon, and Protestants agree because they see the Jews as their authority on the Old Testament. However, the Ancient Christians did not believe the Jews were their authority on canon at all! Instead they believed they had authority from Christ by the Holy Spirit, separate from what whatever the Jews thought, by which they could decide what the Christian canon was and Wisdom was included. Why did they decide that? Because it was so good at converting Jews to the Truth of Christianity. Now, in modern times the “best” manuscript decided by certain scholars has the authority, but is it The Spirit? Are souls being converted because you are “correct” by some scholars standard or because you have The Spirit? Anyways, Catholics should have a Catholic translation with Catholic notes or they will continue to loose the young ones. When will the scholars and those in authority have mercy? End.

Perhaps I will contact TAN publishers, or Baronius and see if they are interested in contacting the USCCB to discuss the publication of a complete Confraternity.

I have a point of contact at Baronius. I emailed him, as well as Tan Books and Scepter Publishers (who publish the Confraternity NT). We will see. If there is any interest, we can begin writing letters, I suppose. Such a specialty bible would probably not be cheap, but how much is the the written Tradition worth to us?

Of course, all of this hinges on the cooperation of the USCCB, I would guess.

I’d buy it in a heart beat.
 
I enjoy my New Jerusalem Bible, the one I have was printed in England, I almost think it’s sort of an Anglican Bible. All of the books of the Catholic Church are in there definitely. But I don’t exalt it over others, Douay Rheims is probably better.
 
What do you all think? Does Romans 8:1 differ substantially with/without the inclusion of the second half?

“… who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” might be seen as a commentary on what it means to be “in Christ Jesus”. Right? I can’t necessarily see a “once saved-always saved” interpretation in either case.

Here is my personal experience, Protestants uses 8:1 and 8:38 combined to teach it. The bookend verses of Romans 8. Because they are prone to cherry pick verses, not actually reading the whole chapter, they fall into this heresy. They never get to verse 4. So it matters if it is left off especially when young Catholics not familiar with the bible are challenged.
Protestants are cherry pick bible verse memorizers and passionate about “saving” poor Catholics. And that is bad for the the average bible uneducated Catholic. Just google favorite once saved always saved verses and you will see almost all the ones people site are taken out of the simple context. In error they aply a liberal meanings to verses that deal with very specific circumstances because they dont read the context. For example:
Some site 1 Cor 3:15 as once saved always saved, but that verse has nothing to do with salvation but about apostolic preaching. You see this over and over.

We need the people in authority to wake up and see the light and give us something better than the NAB.
