God is truth and has nothing to do with lies. They are incited by another force, a malevolent force. If you make up a sin, there is no sin until you tell it as if it were true, since it is an intentional untruth - a lie. Do you follow? Real sins are enough, frequent enough and serious enough that we need not make them up.

If you intentionally “hide” or fail to confess a known sin, that invalidates the entire confession, since you entered into it falsely. Regarding court trials, you have heard “Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth”? Well, that applies in earthly courtrooms, but infinitely more before the Divine Judge.

We are commanded not to put our God to the test.
