Never, that would be a sin and would grieve the Lord terribly. Why post this?!

Nope. Tempting…but nope…
This. Actually, you’d probably have to put me in the situation before I could say for sure whether I’d resist the temptation. But I certainly don’t think it would be OK to do.

Well, you wouldn’t really get away with it.

At some point, one day, you’d have to explain this to God.
Don’t think He’d be too pleased.

What if you found a million dollars like in a breifcase somewhere, would you hand it in or keep it?

I know this isn’t good but if I were guaranteed not to get caught I can’t say that I could resist:(.
I mean, first there is the challenge of getting the money in a way that guarantees that I would not got caught . I would find that challenge, in and of itself, tempting. :o

(other than the luck of a lost briefcase, which would NEVER happen and in that case, I would hand it in because chances are you are dealing with people who keep large $$$ in a briefcase-generally not someone I would want to bring into my life)

Although, once I would have the money, I’m not sure I could enjoy it because you would have to enjoy it in a way that keeps it hidden. You would have to always be aware of what you wanted to do with it and whether or not it would attract unwanted attention. Kind of like the ā€œTell Tale Heartā€ scenario. Eventually, I think you would go a little crazy. So I guess to maintain my sanity (and because its wrong šŸ˜‰ ) I probably wouldn’t do it: but I would REALLY think about it. 😃

if i could get way with it? yes

who’d keep that in a briefcase? the mob?
I suppose one could rationalize stealing from a thief. And maybe banks are also thieves. But I still wouldn’t take the money…and run, unless it was in order to save the life of a family member.

Turn it in…

The larger the amount the more likely I would be to turn it in - or just leave it where I found it… As others have mentioned, who keeps that much cash in a briefcase???

Besides, regardless of the method of acquiring it, the larger the amount the more significant it is to the one who lost it…

Turn it in and build treasure in heaven.

Peace
James

If you found it in a briefcase you know its stolen. If you turn that in it will just sit on a shelf in the evidence room, wont it? If you keep it you might be an unwitting player in aa sting.

Money? I wouldn’t keep it. Now if it was a briefcase full of loose gemstones…

No. It’s not my right to take it, and if I did, I know I would feel terribly guilty. Plus then you’d have to worry about all the charges that would be pressed against you once truth comes out.

Its funny you asked this because I was thinking the same thing the other day when I watched the movie ā€œpsychoā€. The lady stole $40,000… and even then I just kept thinking that I’d feel terrible if I ever did anything like that.

So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets.(Mt 7:12)

Love your neighbor as yourself…(Mt 22:36-40)

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. (Mt 6:19-20)

For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? (Mk 8:36)

Turn the money In!!! Anything else is sin…

Peace
James

I have enough trouble dealing with real-world temptations; I don’t have time to waste dealing with far-out hypotheticals that are never going to happen.

So why am I taking time to respond? 😃

Does ā€œgetting away with itā€ mean that even God doesn’t know? (Like that’s going to happen! šŸ˜› )
