If you could join an order, which one would you join

There’s one in NJ that has Gregorian Chant and the Divine Office in Latin. They also have the Mass in Latin, but I’m not sure if it is the the TLM or the N.O. I’m hoping it is the N.O. I sent a letter off to them the other day. If I remember correctly the community is called Regina Laudis.

I think Walburga in Colorado may also do the Divine Office in Latin, but I can’t remember what I read on their website.
 
I voted Dominicans. I am currently discerning with the aid of the vocational director the possibility of joining the order, but I am glad to see that people on this forum have a healthy respect for the religious life even those who are married.
 
The Carthusians. Sometimes the thought of being a hermit is quite appealing.

I know that some people may argue that God would choose the order for you, rather than you choose yourself; so, I ask this question in reference to which order you feel best fits your abilities and interests, under the assumption that God would naturally draw you to an order that fits the abilities He gave you.

Perhaps you can explain why you choose one order over others.

Sorry I couldn’t put down all the major orders. I understand that there are Marians, Augustinians, Passionists, Trappists, Basilians, etc., but I can’t fit them all on the poll. But please mention any of these other orders if you know that’s what you would be best in. Also, please **embolden **the name of the order.

Either the Dominicans or the Oratorians - the %between%Congregation of the Oratory of St. Philip Neri 🙂​

Reason: extremely hard to say. Attractions, of any kind, can be very hard to analyse (like humour, in fact) ##
 
I would join an order of nuns where age is not an issue, I am 46, where I do not have to go overseas. I am lousy with languages.

And most importantly are contemplative…

I have considered joining an order, but to tell you the truth the celibacy thing is too hard for me, and I like girls too much anyhow. So, it’s probably best if i get married somehow. 😦

I would have joined the Knights Templar, prior to their corruption and tragic downfall.
 
I would be a Discalced Carmelite even though my feet are SO tender. I dealt with the Brothers and Priests at our local monastary for many years and found them all to be the happiest of men. If any of them ever had a bad day, they never let me know it.
 
We’re blessed to have a parish run by Franciscans, so it’s heartening to witness Franciscan spirituality up close and personal, but I think that I would join the Carmelite order if had had the call to the concencrated life. It’s something about their charism. It has a timelessness to it a very deep spirituality. I’ve always admired St. Theresa of Avila and St. Edith Stein among others, so I would join their contemplative order.

I am actually petitioning to enter a Diocesan Seminary, but it was an LC priest who really helped me discern my vocation. What a wonderful Church!

Congratulations! That just goes to show that orders are not ‘stealing’ priests from the dioceses. If you’re called to be a priest, you have to discern what kind - order, diocese etc. It’s not a generic thing and the first one to get the guy wins. We all win when someone answers God’s call. I am prayerfully considering joining the Confraternity of Penitents 3rd Order. This is a wonderful order whose teachings/rule spill over and mingle well with any other order you feel called to pursue…or can be your Primary Order…according to the Lords will for you. I would urge anyone serious about the Faith to look into this…as the teachings do apply to all called to Apostleship. The website is…www.Penitents.org. God Bless One and All
 
Definitely the Montfort Missionaries (Company of Mary). No doubt - wanted to a long time ago but didn’t.
