Jesus said so, “You are Peter, and on this rock, I will build MY Church.”……what would it be?
The fact that the Catholic Church possesses the full truth. How about you clarkal? What would you answer??…what would it be?
I completely agree. And I’m a cradle Catholic who never “fell away.” I could say all the other things I would NEVER want to leave. But when faced with apologetics and what the potential outcomes could be, authority is it!As a convert, for me it came down to authority. Who has it and who doesn’t and why.![]()
My #1 reason-------Authority: The chair of Peter.…what would it be?
“The Lord says to Peter: ‘I say to you,’ he says, ‘that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church.’ . . . On him [Peter] he builds the Church, and to him he gives the command to feed the sheep [John 21:17], and although he assigns a like power to all the apostles, yet he founded a single chair [cathedra], and he established by his own authority a source and an intrinsic reason for that unity. Indeed, the others were that also which Peter was , but a primacy is given to Peter, whereby it is made clear that there is but one Church and one chair. So too, all [the apostles] are shepherds, and the flock is shown to be one, fed by all the apostles in single-minded accord. If someone does not hold fast to this unity of Peter, can he imagine that he still holds the faith? If he [should] desert the chair of Peter upon whom the Church was built, can he still be confident that he is in the Church?” (The Unity of the Catholic Church 4; 1st edition [A.D. 251] Cyprian of Carthage).
If I were not an atheist? I would answer that I believed in the Catholic Church because I think the evidence greatly favors it.The fact that the Catholic Church possesses the full truth. How about you clarkal? What would you answer??
Does your answer mean you are open to further searching of this evidence? If I were not an atheist? I would answer that I believed in the Catholic Church because I think the evidence greatly favors it.
It depends what you mean. If you mean the greatest defense of the faith, I would say apostolic succesion. If you mean the greatest part of Catholicism and the thing that no one should do without, I would say The Eucharist.…what would it be?
