Just a curiosity question. If you could only choose one prayer to say daily, if your day was so busy or you just couldn’t get more than one devotion in per busy day, which one would it be?

The Our Father of course… just like if I knew I only had five minutes left to live.
Everything is in that prayer… everything we need because Jesus gave that one to us with full knowlege of our needs.

does the rosary or mass count as one prayer? i think that it would be the rosary, provided that mass was not an option. other than that, i would have to say the Our Father, because it is the only prayer taught by Christ.

A prayer our family says nightly.

My Lord and my God,
I thank you for the countless benefits You have given me,
especially for creating and redeeming me,
calling me to the Catholic faith,
and choosing me to be an apostle among my family and friends,
and freeing me from many dangers of body and soul.
Enlighten my understanding to admit the faults I have committed today,
and grant me sincere sorrow for having offended You,
and a firm purpose of amendment.
Amen.

Lord, Have Mercy
Christ, Have Mercy

I would pray the Hail Mary and trust that the Holy Mother would say an Our Father for me. Although in moments of quiet I pray the Jesus prayer sometimes distilled down to the name of Jesus.

That is a great trust.

“Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit… as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be… world without end. Amen”.

Because this prayer gives Glory to our Creator. 🙂

The Our Father, because that is how Jesus taught us. (Followed by the Hail Mary and Glory Be . . . really quickly . . . )

And, if I could say one more prayer, it would be to the Holy Spirit -

O Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul,
I adore thee.
Enlighten, Guide, Strengthen and Console me.
Tell me what I must do, and help me to do it.
I promise to be submissive to all that you ask of me,
and to accept all that you permit to happen to me.
Let me only know your will. Amen.

You can’t just say ONE PRAYER! 😉

I would say the Our Father, or if I was so sick I couldn’t I would try to say My Jesus mercy

So if I get this right: If you had only five minutes a day for prayer you would prefer to talk to the virgin Mary instead of to your Lord and God???

Interesting…

He/she didn’t say that!
Also, saying a prayer asking Virgin Mary to pray for us is perfectly fine. It wouldn’t take away from asking God, would it?

Another important thing, the Hail Mary prayer is not all about asking Virgin Mary to pray for us, but it is about honoring the Holy Trinity!

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell, especialy those who aremost in need of Your Mercy!

Absolutely ! The Mass is defined as the most perfect prayer. The question left it wide open to everyone’s choice - which I must say has been heartwarming to see the variations and reasons why. And, pecoemla, a beautiful one. And I appreciate so many reminding us that Jesus taught us the “Our Father”.

I didn’t post my favorite, since I can’t decide. If I couldn’t get to Mass, Act of Contrition, Morning Offering, Lord’s Prayer, Rosary or Chaplet - or others? Makes one think - so many prayers, so little time !🙂
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Wounds of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, to heal the wounds of our souls.
My Jesus, pardon and mercy, through the merits of Thy Holy Wounds.

For the sake of His sorrow passion have mercy on us and the whole world

or

Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.
