If you disagree with church teaching, can you still call yourself Catholic?

Hello…I am brand new to the forums, so please excuse me if I make a mistake or two - I’m learning. 🙂

I am a 29 year old woman who converted to Catholicism when I was 16 years old. At that time, and up until very recently, I knew that the Catholic Church was the place for me. I agreed with all church teachings that I knew of, and was often the person that people would come to for advice…such as I am doing now. Strange how things can change, isn’t it?

There are a couple of church teachings that I just can’t “force” myself to agree with. However, the other 99.99999% of teachings are ones that I agree with wholeheartedly, and don’t feel I could ever compromise on. I don’t think that any other church would really fall in line with those beliefs.

So, my question is…can you disagree with some church teaching and still be Catholic? If not, am I destined to be “homeless” as far as churches go because the Catholic church doesn’t want me? This is a very emotional issue for me, so I apologize if I am not making sense (it makes perfect sense in my head! 🙂 )

I look forward to your answers…thank you in advance!
