If you drop the Holy Eucharist and a mouse eats it…is the mouse going to heaven?? A Protestand asked me this question and i didn’t know how to answer…
This thread is 6 years old, and the poster you are responding to has not been around in more than 5 years, so don’t be disappointed if he/she does not answer you.Coyote, If Jesus had touched a leper and healed him, and you saw it, would you not allow him then to touch you? This is what your saying when commenting on getting sick or mouth bacteria from the people in front of you. The last thing I would worry about in Mass is weather or not I might get a bug from recieving our Holy Lord.
He’s fine.During a daily mass I attended, a very elderly gentleman, who was in front of me as we filed to the front for Communion, dropped the Eucharist. He quickly bent over, picked it up and put it in his mouth. I have never seen that happen before. What are you suppose to do if you drop the Eucharist during Communion?
That’s quite correct. If for any reason the host cannot be consumed - say it has been trodden upon or spat out by a child who shouldn’t have received it - it should be placed in a glass of water. Communion wafers are made so that they will break down completely in water. The glass may then be emptied into the piscina - which drains into consecrated ground, or some other suitable place where it may pass to the earth.I’ve since asked a priest, he said that you should always consume the host if possible. If for some reason you can’t, then it should be put in water and allowed to disolve then poured down the special sink in the sacristy (suporium???). That sink send it directly into the ground, not into the sewer lines.)
