If you had an opportunity to go to Mars, would you?

My answer is a big, emphatic NO. The thought of a “manned mission to Mars” sounds completely unattractive. I can’t imagine being confined to a tin can with a half-dozen other people for years at a time. Being so far away from home in the emptiness of space - eeeesh! NOPE! 😬

How about you?

No 🙂 And if something was ending the world I’d go down with the ship .

Yup I’m not going anywhere. Perhaps if we had Warpdrive I would go. But that would mean a rescue mission would only take an hour. Currently, it would take months!😱

The idea of being in space for that long, and knowing that if there is a technical failure your life is in danger, is a big turn off for me!

😁

I’ve watched too many space movies to say yes. Intersteller, The Martian, Star Wars, etc. A person can get killed out there.

No. After the long trip there in a small tin can, you would be confined to a larger tin can because the planet is so inhospitable to life. There’s not much to do up there.

Yes I would, and I think I could adjust to being “Spam in can” quite well. I hope the food is good though.

Sign me up! 🚀

@milt Really? You wouldn’t be bothered by being in the middle of literal nowhere?

There would most certainly things I would miss, aside loved ones, but it can be dealt with. The same goes with living in close quarters with others.

My son says he would go. I would not, at least not at my current age. I don’t like traveling to the next city these days, let alone another planet!

Only if the Lord told me to get on the ship… otherwise I’m staying put…

Responses from CAF would take too long. So I’m not going. Not to mention we’re all gonna get infected with alien parasites 😱

I’d go in a heartbeat!!! Sadly, my physical disabilities would scratch me 😦

If they improved the hygiene involved with space travel and if I wasn’t married I’d sign up.

That was one of the fascinating parts of Mary Roach’s book “Packing For Mars”.
