Thats where it gets tricky, some verses seem to indicate believing God is who he claims to be and what he has done for us, is enough for salvation.

I wouldn’t think that taking some verses out of context is a wise method or approach to the enterprise to begin with. The big picture is what is important if your plan is building a road map of sorts.
