is there any point in praying? I know that you should get to confession asap, but I would still like to know.
Excellent advice…Someone once told me that when you feel the most down with a lot of guilt you will feel that God wont listen to your prayers. This is not true. It is what the Devil wants you to think. Or at times when it is the most hard to pray is the time that you need to pray the most. The Evil one works on getting you away from God at this point in your life. Don’t let him! Don’t give the Devil any victory! So pray and then pray some more. She also said that sometimes when we feel like this we need the prayers of others. so I will pray for you and I emplore others to pray for you also. God never gives up on us we are the ones that give up on God. so don’t give up!
PRAY
Ummm, it’s Act of Perfect Contrition (ie a prayer that expresses perfect contrition), not Perfect Act of Contrition (a perfect prayer which happens to express contrition) … just a minor peeve.Definitely! Of course you continue to pray. God does not leave you or love you any less. In fact, a perfect act of contrition could remit even a mortal sin if you resolve to go to confession as soon as you can. It is the actual grace of God that draws you to reconciliation. You must respond to that grace and that is done through prayer. Even your intention to go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation is prayer. God knows the depths of your heart and your love for Him. Yes, we all fail in our weaknesses and even choose to sever our relationship with God through sin. But God is infinitely bigger than that. You can never ever be powerful enough to have God stop loving you.
So, yes, continue to pray, seek forgiveness and know the mercy of God. Where there is sin, grace abounds. Mortal sin is very humbling and it is in that humblness that we find the unconditional love of God. Remember, we choose whether or not to have a relationship with God. He chose us as His adopted son or daughter in our baptism and as an infinitely faithful Father, He will never ever leave us…teachccd![]()
WOW! You caught me! I hope that God is not as critical…Ummm, it’s Act of Perfect Contrition (ie a prayer that expresses perfect contrition), not Perfect Act of Contrition (a perfect prayer which happens to express contrition) … just a minor peeve.
Most certainly. I once asked a Priest about the efficacy of our prayer after we have sinned mortally. He said that the desire to pray in this state would mean that deep down there is a sorrow for that sin and a desire to be united with God. As to whether it was perfect or imperfect contrition he did not relate, but he said also that out of that prayer would most certainly come a deep desire for the sacrament of Confession.is there any point in praying?
