Hi friends! My 9 month old has some great nights of sleeping, but her sleep is easily interrupted. Teething, gas, a missed nap–this all will lead to a very, very sleepless night. We are working through it. I don’t write this as a complaint, it is just a fact: I am so tired. It has been 4 nights straight where this poor girl is cutting teeth, awake at least every hour and needing lots of snuggles and comfort. I am happy to give her snuggles and comfort–I’m really good at it. I’m all warm and squishy and I sing happy songs… At least I’m pretty sure that’s what my Cora thinks.
But, I’m so tired. Sometimes, in the middle of the night when I hear her cry after only sleeping for 20 minutes, I get this feeling of abandonment like I’m left out in this desert alone. When I feel that, I then feel guilty or unappreciative or weak. It’s just sleep. Yes, we need it. But losing a few nights’ sleep for our children is not the same thing as God refusing to answer my prayers or abandoning me. I know that. And yet, for that fleeting moment when I’m being pulled out of my sleep, I do feel like He has refused me or abandoned me. I don’t like that feeling. I shake it pretty quickly, thankfully.
This apparently was more of a rant than anything. But if anybody could spare a quick prayer for all tired parents, it would be greatly appreciated!
